Some castles can be worth far, far more than others. Especially castles that offer extreme height advantage. And it's not just the castle, it's the starting zone inside it. If the wallwalks are start zones for the defender, it's a bigger advantage because the attackers can't scoot in while you're climbing up to your fighting positions. It also offers the possibility to place large units like Swog Riders and Major Q9 up on the wall, which you can't normally do.

The terrain the attackers must use is also important. Is there a rise where they can get height advantage on the door? On figures behind the door? Is there cover/road allowing attackers to be within 1 move of the door and still have cover? Is there any cover at all, for that matter? Where are the glyphs, if any?

And it isn't just the numbers, it's the order markers. The attackers should usually be a team with two order markers to every one of the defender's.
