To completed your IG-88D mod, removing one gun and replacing it with a vibro blade. The wookiepedia description of a Vibroblade says it is basically a short sword so making a decent Vibroblade is pretty easy and can be achieve many different ways.

For me, my blade came from the figure seen below. It is from the HorrorClix Freakshow line, #34 (Carny), #35 (Carny), & #36 (Skell). $0.25 at Miniature Market. You can find a similar short sword from lots of different sources though.



Remove the small gun barrel on your IG-88 model but leave the handle poking out from the bottom as well as most of the part of the gun directly over the droids hand. Trim unneeded plastic from that section so that it now looks like a sword hilt.

You will be using a bit of wire to 'pin' the sword blade to the hilt in order to make sure the blade stays in place once you are done. Drill a small hole into the hilt as well as the bottom of the blade. Shove the wire into the hole you made in the hilt.


Snip the wire off, apply some glue to the bottom of the blade and shove the blade down onto the remaining wire until you have a good fit.


Paint the blade & hilt as desired and you are done.
