Most chain bookstores sell D&D minis. If you have a gaming store in your area you can go there. You can also post a want ad if your city is big enough. I go to my local 5 and dime for some of my customs. Fast food freebies, heck all kind of stuff can be used. Just look around you'd be surprised.
