The Book of C3G Rules

C3G FAQs and Erratas

Definitions:

"in play" = in your army and not destroyed
"you control" = in your army and on the battlefield
"start of the round" = The period where Order Markers are placed and initiative is rolled. Most powers will specify in what part of the 'start of round' the power happens. If the power does not, it happens before Order Markers are placed.

Moving:

Moving and Destructible Objects
All destructible objects should be treated as obstacles during the movement phase that can be moved onto or over during a figure's turn. Before and after moving, destructible objects are treated as figures.

Moving Through Obstacles And Adjacency To Figures
Moving through an obstacle is mechanically equivalent to flying over the obstacle. The figure doesn't actually occupy the obstacle's space (since it physically can't) and is just passing through it. A figure passing through an obstacle cannot be adjacent if it cannot legally end its movement on that space.

When A Special Power Tells You To Move A Figure
When a special power tells you to move a figure and a number of spaces is not specified, you should move that figure as if it was moving as it would on its turn, using its move number and using the normal movement rules of Heroscape with road bonuses and movement glyphs applying, unlike when a number of spaces is specified where no bonuses apply.

Moving On Ladders
In addition to Medium, Tiny and Large single-spaced figures can now use ladders. Huge single-spaced figures cannot.

Attacking:

Line of Sight
For C3G, line of sight can be traced 360 degrees around the target point for all figures.

Attacks
An attack occurs whenever a player rolls attack dice which then has the potential to inflict wounds on a defending figure. This includes area of effect attacks like Harley Quinn's Smilex Bomb and Green Goblin's Pumpkin Bombs.

Special Attacks cannot be used in the same turn as a normal attack unless otherwise stated on the card.

Knockback and Molten Lava Damage
If a figure receives one or more wounds or is destroyed as a result of Knockback or Molten Lava damage, those wounds are not considered to be the result of any attack. Therefore, no special powers that trigger as a result of inflicting wounds with an attack will trigger as a result of Knockback or Molten Lava damage.

End of turn:

Victory Conditions
At the end of each turn, after all powers that occur during this time have been applied, if there is any player that no longer has any figures on the battlefield, that player loses the game. This is the normal victory condition, and it can be changed in scenarios or by the players' agreements.

Miscellaneous:

Modifying a Roll
Anything that changes your initial roll is considered modifying it. This includes, but is not limited to, re-rolls, switching dice and adding or subtracting to/from the roll.

Placing Rules For Figures Occupying More Than One Space
When placing a figure that occupies more than one space, all target spaces must be on the same level. No part of the figure may be farther away from its original placement than the distance indicated by the placement power.

Simultaneous Powers
The official DnD rulebook states that when opponent's powers happen at the same time, roll a D20 to decide which occurs first. We have added that when your own special powers occur at the same time, you get to choose which one to use first. When powers that happen "immediately" occur at the same time as other powers that do not happen "immediately", the powers that happen "immediately" take precedence and occur first.

Temporary Control and Order Markers
When using a special power to take temporary control of an opponent's figure, unless stated otherwise in the power, you may not view any unrevealed Order Markers on that figure's card and you may not remove or reveal any Order Markers that are on that figure's card.

Castle Walls are Terrain
The official rulebook is vague about whether Castle Wall Pieces are terrain or obstacles. They're a terrain tile that's very tall and they're modular in a way obstacles aren't. Terrain is what you use to build a map, obstacles are things you place on a map. The distinction can be boiled down to whether or not you can place other tiles on top of an object officially, if so then it is terrain, if not it is an obstacle.
