Units: Winter Soldier (II) (210), Captain America C3G, Sgt. Rock, U.S. Agent (855) VS Gorilla Grodd 2, Stilt-Man, Doctor Light, Green Goblin (855)

Spoiler Alert!

Winter Solder chooses Captain America for Military Duo. Initially Doctor Light and Green Goblin lead out. Cap and Bucky move up, then Sgt. Rock moves out and bonds with Bucky. Captain America’s and Sgt. Rock’s attack boost combined with Cybernetic Southpaw makes for some solid offensive power. Ultimately the soldiers just had much better turn efficiency this game. Sgt. Rock plus Winter Soldier meant the team was always getting two attacks per turn. Eventually Grodd’s cronies took out Captain America, then Grodd himself took out Sgt. Rock before falling.

Spoiler Alert!

Winter Solder chooses Captain America for Military Duo. Kraven hunts Captain America. Punisher lays down some initial fire, but the Sinister 6 outmuscle the Avengers initially. Punisher falls, then Bucky shrugs off some heavy blows while he and Cap put a couple wounds on Rhino. The Sinister 6 take out Bucky, then Cap is overwhelmed by their combined firepower.


Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Doc Ock (0 wounds), Kraven (1 wound), Rhino (3 wounds) win.

Units: Winter Soldier (II) (220), Black Widow, Hawkeye 3 (610) VS Blacksmith, Golden Glider, Captain Cold 1, Trickster 1, Captain Boomerang 2 (610)

Winter Solder chooses Black Widow for Military Duo. Golden Glider chooses Captain Cold for Rogue Duo. The Rogues can’t land a hit initially while the Agents whittle down Captain Cold’s health. But then Captain Cold has godly defense dice and the Rogues land a few hits. Blacksmith takes out Black Widow. The Rogues then take out Winter Soldier. They’ve dealt enough damage for Hawkeye to stand a chance in cleanup, though. Hawkeye solos Blacksmith, Captain Boomerang, and Trickster before Golden Glider finally takes him down.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Winter Soldier is a nice figure for any Soldier army. He’s definitely better in a Soldier build with Captain America and Sgt. Rock - with that army, it is really difficult to optimize a first target as the opponent. Sgt. Rock and Cap are difficult to kill, and both boost their allies and bond. Cybernetic Southpaw is especially brutal when boosted by Sgt. Rock and Cap.

In other armies, Winter Soldier felt like a solid addition but nothing too crazy, he’s just a bonding hero with average attack. Tactical Buckshot can get some autowounds if you’re lucky. I’m happy with 220 so far taking all the results into consideration.
