Re: The Book of John Dusk - Waiting for Initial
C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: John Dusk
Army Test
Summary: The Lawmen were surprisingly effective here. Dusk gives them a heavy hitter who can actually utilize Jonah’s huge attack boost, unlike Dragon. Of course, once Dragon entered the battle he couldn’t roll more than 2 skulls on each 8 die Savage Punch.
Map: Custom
Units: Dusk (260) Savage Dragon, Jonah Hex, Red Wolf (800)
Vs.
Wrecking Crew
Spoiler Alert!
Recap: Jonah picks Wrecker as his Bounty. Jonah advances far enough to give Dusk a boost, who shoots Thunderball for 4 wounds. Dusk grabs height and shoots Wrecker for 4 wounds next. Wrecker then rolls 6 skulls against Dusk, who burns a marker and still takes 4 wounds. Dusk, at the brink of death, crosses the Rubicon and finishes Wrecker. Bulldozer and Thunderball rush Dragon, but Jonah grabs height and starts slicing up Bulldozer with his Sabre. Dusk tries his Aura Assault to finish off Thunderball but misses all 3 attacks. Piledriver gets next to Dusk and misses, but his next turn he finishes Dusk. Dragon steals OM3 from Jonah because of it. Dragon’s Savage Punch only deals 1 wound to Bulldozer, and he bonds with a Fancy Shootin’ Red Wolf, who misses Bulldozer. Piledriver rushes Jonah and kills him in a single turn, and his two OMs go to Dragon. Piledriver and Bulldozer hit Red Wolf for 3 wounds. Dragon still can’t roll any skulls, and Red Wolf finishes Bulldozer. Piledriver finally finishes Red Wolf. Piledriver gets a double attack on Dragon and deals 5 wounds! Thunderball eventually finishes Dragon before he can heal.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Piledriver with 3 wounds, and Thunderball with 5 wounds.

Army Test
Summary: Dusk missed Jonah’s attack boost, but Gordon’s huge movement always feel underrated. Unfortunately Dragon was effectively neutered by Blink and pummelled before he could heal, and Bishop was thrown next to Beast making OMs on his card a risky proposition. The Lawmen were fighting a losing battle, but still were putting up a decent fight.d
Map: Custom
Units: Dusk (260), Savage Dragon, Gordon, Bishop, Beat Cops x3 (995)
Vs
Prof X, Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Angel, Blink (995)

Dusk deals 1 wound to Cyclops with his triple attack. Cylcops deals another wound to Dusk and kills a cop, and Dragon takes the last two OMs. Jean throws Bishop off the hill and next to Beast. Dusk kills Cyclops and deals 2 wounds to Jean. Jean shoots Dragon for 3 wounds. Jean locks down Dragon from moving, but Dusk kills her from range. Beast hits Dragon for a wound, and Blink hits him for 2, and also sends him 7 spaces backwards. Gordon moves up, allowing Dusk to disengage Beast so he can’t use negotiate, and Dusk takes an LEA and Dragon’s Reluctant Officer to activate! Beast kills Gordon in one hit, and also a Cop. Army Test
Summary: I thought for sure Skull’s crew would win because of Wolverine’s demise, but Skull fell a bit too early and their team kind of fell apart after that. It ended up being a close game however.
Map: Custom
Units: Dusk (260), Red Skull 2, Crossbones, Mr Zsasz, Shield Sniper (800)
Vs
Luke Cake, Wolverine, Spider-Man (Miles), Swordsman (800)
Spoiler Alert!
Change to SA:
Attack 3. Range 3.
After attacking, if there is at least one Aura marker on this card, you may move the defending figure one space, and then you may attack with this Special Attack 2 additional times. Figures moved by this special attack never take leaving engagement attacks, and John Dusk may not target the same figure more than once.
Recap: At the start of round 2, a Red Skull enhanced Crossbones rolls two 5 skull attacks to kill Wolverine in a single turn. Swordsman and Luke surround Skull, dealing 2 wounds. The Sniper takes a shot at Swordsman, dealing 2 wounds. Swordsman gets 6 attacks on Skull, but only deals 1 wound. Dusk grabs height, and uses his SA to deal a wound to both Swordsman and Luke, and move them (no strategic advantage however). Swordsman kills Skull, and Luke grabs height on Dusk, dealing a wound. Dusk disengages, taking a wound, to try to shoot Swordsman, but misses. Swordsman kills Crossbones in a single hit. Luke deals a wound to Dusk. Dusk Crosses the Rubicon, dealing 2 wounds to Luke, leaving him with a single life. Spider-Man then kills Dusk. Luke engages the Sniper and misses, and the Sniper retaliates by finishing Luke! Swordsman easily dispatches Zsasz who charged, and while the Sniper hit Spider-Man once, Miles comes out on top.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Swordsman with 3 wounds, and Spider-Man with 2 wounds.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: I like him a lot. Rubicon is kind of the main power here, trying to utilize it properly, but it’s a fun decision. He’s not as durable as I thought he’d be, but that’s okay. I’d rather him come down a tad in cost rather than power him up.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT:
I like what he can do. The new SA is fun. Not as useful as a plain triple attack but it’s a tad more unique. He’s a good addition to the Lawmen in my opinion.
