Re: The Book of Howard the Duck - Waiting for Testing
C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Howard the Duck
Army Test
Summary: It started with crazy poor rolls for the Fan Four, with Ice being the MVP. But by the end Ben really cleaned house, and he won by the skin of his teeth. Howard was great, just hanging out, but he has some decent offense with WW and Starlord’s boosts.
Map: Custom
Units: Howard, WWIII, Star Lord, Ice, Robot (1000)
Vs.
Fantastic Four
Spoiler Alert!
Recap: Ice gets a lucky shot on Johnny pretty quick, dealing a wound. She misses a big Blizzard. Ice then gets next to Sue and deals 3 wounds, also adding an Ice marker! Ice wins initiative, and with WW’s boost she easily kills Sue! Johnny uses Flame On to deal 2 wounds to WW, and then shoots Starlord for two wounds. WW flies over to Reed, dealing 3 wounds (Bringing Howard with her). Johnny Flames on and shoots Starlord, killing him. OM3 moves from Starlord over to Howard. Ben and WW duke it out, but Ben can’t roll well at all, even when Johnny with 2 wounds comes close to boost Ben’s attack. Ice blasts Johnny with 5 skulls, killing him. Now that WW is out of markers, Ben wallops her. Howard gets OM1 and OM2. Ben pulverizes Ice. It’s down to Howard vs Ben, and Howard deals 2 wounds! Leaving them each at 1 life! But Ben rolls too many dice and easily kills him next turn.
Damage Dealt: 2 wounds to Reed (Boosted by WW), killing him.2 wounds to Ben.
Quack Fu: Activated with an attack on Ben, but is easily blocked.
Tag Along: Used to stick with WW everywhere she went.
Smoke Break: Used to save OM3 when Starlord died. Used to save OM1 and OM2 when WW died.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Ben with 1 life remaining.

Army Test
Summary: Howard dealt a few good wounds here, but he died much quicker. If Miles didn’t whiff his huge attack it probably would have been much closer! Howard is a super solid 60 point addition to most armies. Quack Fu gets obviously better with stat boosters, but “reluctant hero” style powers are useful nearly anywhere.
Map: Custom
Units: Howard, Captain America, Spider-Man (Miles), Clayface (Payne) (600)
Vs.
Luke Cage, Jewel, Iron Fist (600)
Spoiler Alert!
Recap: Cap leads the charge, and Luke and Jewel double team him, but can’t break through his shield. Clayface runs forward with Howard, but then Miles swings by, picking him up, and gains height on Iron Fist, rolling a massive 6 die attack! ...With 0 skulls. Cap disengages Luke for a wound, to get up to even ground. He hits Jewel for 2 wounds. Iron Fist kills Miles, and Howard gets his OMs. Jewel and Luke hit Cap for 2 more wounds. Howard hits Iron Fist for 2 more wounds! Iron Fist kills Howard in one quick attack, then heals. Cap kills Jewel. Luke kills Cap, and Clayface moves up, Toxic Touching Iron Fist for a wound. He then takes a face full of fists and dies.
Damage Dealt: 4 wounds to Iron Fist.
Quack Fu: Attacks 3 times in one turn, dealing 2 wounds to Iron Fist.
Tag Along: Ran with Clayface for a bit, the Miles picked him up and brought him to high ground.
Smoke Break: Takes OM2 and OM3 from Miles when Iron Fist kills him.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Luke with 1 wound and Iron Fist with 4 wounds.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
He’s fun. An easy add to a lot of different armies. I love “reluctant hero” powers, they make OM placement safer and his other powers pair really well together. When not activated he’s resilient, and he moves with your other guys so he’s always in the action. I could see him potentially going up a tad, but his armies didn’t perform well enough to justify it for me. I think he’s just about right.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT:
Super fun. Could see myself throwing him in lots of armies, especially as a 60 point filler with Cap or Starlord.
