C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Rojo Lantern (Atrocitus) (Dos)
Army Test
Map: Custom
Units: Red Lanterns: Atrocitus II, Mera, Bleez, Dex-Starr (1300) VS Captain America C3G, Iron Man Hulkbuster, War Machine, Doctor Strange, Wong, Ant-Man Hank Pym (1300)
Spoiler Alert!
Cap moves out. Mera & Dex move out. War Machine wounds Mera. Bleez steals a marker from Atrocitus and engages War Machine (taking a wound). Dex also engages War Machine from low ground. Bleez wounds War Machine. Wong & Doctor Strange move up, and Strange puts 2 wounds on Bleez. Atrocitus engages War Machine (taking 3 wounds from auto chain gun), whiffs against War Machine, but inflicts a wound thanks to Bleez.
Atrocitus kills War Machine, and uses Ravager Motivator to remove his last battery to activate 2 Red Lanterns: Bleez wounds Cap, Dex-Starr wounds Strange twice - but Wong takes the wounds instead, thus avoiding the additional wounds from Cat Scratch Fever. Cap wounds Atrocitus, who takes the wound to power up. Atrocitus puts 2 wounds on Cap, then uses Ravager Motivator to remove his last battery to activate a Red Lantern: Mera gets 4 attacks, killing Wong, wounding Cap, wounding Strange, and wounding Bleez. Mera then takes a wound herself. Strange wounds Dex. Mera fails, and loses a battery. Hulkbuster puts 3 wounds on Mera and takes one in return from Raging Plasma.
Atrocitus kills Captain America, then uses Ravager Motivator to remove his last battery to activate 2 Red Lanterns: Bleez takes a wound from Hulkbuster, Dex puts 3 wounds on Hulkbuster. Hulkbuster kills Bleez. Atrocitus wounds Strange, then uses Ravager Motivator to activate a Red Lantern: Dex is blocked. Hulkbuster kills Mera. Atrocitus wounds Strange, then Dex fails. Strange wounds Dex, powering him up.
Atrocitus disengages Strange, taking a wound, then wounds Hulkbuster. Dex finishes Hulkbuster off. Lost OM1 & OM2, making this the turning point of the game. Despite that advantage, with two turns Atrocitus only manages one more wound on Strange. Strange wounds Dex.
Strange kills Dex. Atrocitus fails. Strange kills Atrocitus.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Doctor Strange (4 wounds) and unused Ant-Man win.

Units: Atrocitus II, Supergirl, Rankorr, Dex-Starr (1300) VS Green Lanterns: Guy, John, Kyle, Blue Lantern Warth, Green Construct Shield x4 (1300)
Spoiler Alert!
Rankorr advances. John puts 4 wounds on Rankorr, angering the heck out of him. Atrocitus attacks John, but takes a wound from Green Shield Strike. Guy kills Rankorr then takes a wound to wound Dex. Atrocitus wounds John, then has Supergirl attack Guy, who blocks with a battery marker. Warth moves up and burns a battery to restore the batteries of John & Guy.
Atrocitus takes a LEA from John to engage Warth, but Warth blocks. Guy puts 4 wounds on Atrocitus, so Atrocitus shuffles 2 over to Dex. Guy then takes a wound to kill Dex-Starr. Atrocitus puts 2 wounds on Warth, then has Supergirl burn one of John’s batteries. John wounds Supergirl. Atrocitus kills Warth, then has Supergirl attack John. John decides to roll defense (+2 from a GC Shield) against 4 skulls, and of course he whiffs because this is Heroscape where everything is made up and the odds don’t matter. Kyle makes up for it on his turn by rolling 4 skulls against Atrocitus, who whiffs on defense and dies with no adjacent Red Lantern to shift wounds off to. Lost OM3.
Kyle is blocked. Supergirl burns a battery. It’s a lantern slugfest for a while so I won’t bother to type it all out. Eventually the Green Lanterns are victorious.
Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Guy (3 batteries, 3 wounds), Kyle (0 batteries, 0 wounds), and 2 Green Construct Shields win.
THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: This is such a fun faction. The Red Lanterns are a brutal army early on, when battery markers are plentiful and their attack power is terrifying. But they can burn out quickly, losing steam and momentum if you are too aggressive. Atrocitus II is an effective leader and was a lot of fun to play. Shunting wounds away from Atrocitus and where battery markers are needed is super useful, and obviously Ravager bonding is great but balanced by the requirement to inflict a wound.
While the Red Lanterns lost both my games, I feel like I misplayed them slightly in game 1. Bleez stealing one of Atrocitus’s markers provided some early wounds but nerfed Atrocitus’s attack for the remainder of the game. Despite that blunder they did very well, only losing to Strange in the end. In game 2, the Green Lanterns provided a natural counter to the reds with their ability to ignore attacks. I figured the high attack of the Red Lanterns would be able to overcome this, but with lanterns games are decided by momentum, and the Greens had the early momentum. Killing Rankorr so early robbed the Reds of their guaranteed autowounds - Supergirl’s autowounds could be effectively ignored with a battery shield. So while the reds lost game 2, I felt Atrocitus still performed up to par.
