Re: The Book of Scorpion (Carmilla Black) (Public Testing)
Here are my tests. Unfortunately, I played her very poorly
Quote:
NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Scorpion (Carmilla Black)
Army Test
Map: Sacred Shrine (No Glyphs)
Units: Scorpion (130), Cecil Stedman (180), Black Widow (170), Agent Hunter (130), Dum Dum Dugan (90) [700] vs Batwoman (180), Batgirl (Babs), Batgirl (Stephanie), Robin (Tim), Robin (Damian), Alfred [700]
Spoiler Alert!
Instead of going the traditional route and keeping Cecil out of harm, since I've had luck with him before, I let Cecil Stedman spend most of the game close to the action. This later proved to be worth the risk when he killed Damian, who had spent a majority of the game going after Cecil. When Batwoman targeted Cecil, he moved Agent Hunter into engagement with her using his Global Defense Agency power. Batwoman took out Agent Hunter and sent Damian after Cecil. Damian ended up killing Dum Dum Dugan after Cecil used Global Defense Agency to put him between Damian and Cecil. Barbara proved to be an effective addition to the team, with her Vigilante Rivalry keeping her Range and Attack boosted. After Cecil killed Damian, Batwoman attacked him, and he fell to her Surgical Strike, as well as Wounds Damian managed to inflict before his death. Black Widow spent most of the game going after Stephanie, managing to inflict a grand total of 3 wounds on her. She was eventually killed by Stephnie's boyfriend Tim. Scorpion fared decent enough in this game. Unfortunately, poor rolls led to her failing to make much of a splash against the opposing team. She managed to inflict Wounds on Barbara and Kate with her Stinger Toxin, but their higher defenses proved too tough for her 3 attack to pierce. Once Batwoman used her Flash Bang Grenade on her, she was done for. Batwoman took her out, and secured victory for The Gotham Team.
(summary of the game).
Who won: Batwoman (1 Wound), Batgirl (1 Wound), Batgirl (3 Wounds), Robin (3 Wounds), Robin (4 Wounds),
Alfred (0 Wounds)

Army Test
Map: Sacred Shrine (No Glyphs)
Units: Star Lord (250), Scorpion (130), Jubilee (60), Cosmo (160) [600] vs Batman II (250) (Bat-shurikens, Bat-Grapple, Smoke Pellets), Batgirl (Babs) (130), Robin (Dick) (100), Catgirl (60), Alfred (60) [600]
Spoiler Alert!
Unfortunately, the Guardians didn't fare well in this game. Star Lord went down early from attacks from Batman, Batgirl and Robin. The game only went downhill from there. Cosmo pulled the Guardians back to their start zone, and the Bat-Family charged toward them. Cosmo's Psychic Defense X kept the team alive for a few rounds, but they didn't hold up well against the Bats. Jubilee fell to Batgirl's Reckless Advance, and Robin was able to put a couple of Wounds on Scorpion. Scorpion hadn't been able to inflict more than one wound through the whole game because she was tied down by Robin. She did manage to roll to inflict a wound on Batgirl, which ended up being the only wound inflicted through the whole game. She ended up being killed by an attack by Robin when she whiffed on defense. The attack on its own wouldn't have killed her, but she was wounded by Batman before that attack. Cosmo went down soon after but managed to stick around for a full two rounds by blocking attacks and removing OM's from figures he attacked. In the end, Batman managed to put him down.
who won: Batman II (0 wounds), Batgirl (1 wound), Robin (0 wounds), Catgirl (0 wounds), Alfred (0 wounds)
THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: She didn't play well for me, but I likely didn't use her properly. She seems more like an assassin who should be working in the background to kill key figures, and then probably be killed soon after. I used her to just go after whatever figure was closest, and going after Batman at all, who can avoid defending was a bad idea. Played right, I could see her making her points back in kills, but I wasn't thinking very strategically, sad to say.
GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: She's a decent assassin figure, and the fact that she doesn't have to inflict a wound to use her d-20 roll for an unblockable wound is handy. Be sure to run her with figures that will keep the heat off of her, and you can probably play her as an effective assassin against high defense figures. To any playtesters after me STAY AWAY FROM FIGURES THAT CAN AVOID HAVING TO DEFEND AGAINST HER ATTACK!
