Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes
- What should be the unit's point value? 170
- Give a brief overview. The Crime Fighters give the Ninjas a complete ass-whooping!
Map: Platform 5 & 6
Units: Kirigi (175) Ra’s Al Ghul (200), Talia Al Ghul (110), Lady Shiva (175) & Elektra (170) [830 points]
vs.
Luke Cage (190), Iron Man IV (250), Spider-Girl (140), Speedball (150) & Dagger (105) [835 points]
Spoiler Alert!
Round 1: Figures move into position. Lady Shiva takes a wound from Iron Man, who’s perched on top of the platform entrance.
Round 2: Ra’s Al Ghul hides from Iron Man under the platform. Lady Shiva takes another wound from Iron Man. Kirigi fails to drag Iron Man down with his rope knife.
Round 3: Kirigi fails with the rope knife again. Iron Man finishes off Lady Shiva and gives Kirigi a wound. Kirigi fails yet again with the rope knife. Luke Cage attacks Kirigi, causing 2 damage (which he then removes). Ra’s Al Ghul tries Demon Head on Kirigi but fails and Speedball’s bouncing around doesn’t cause any damage.
Round 4: Luke Cage uses Iron Man to attack Kirigi which gives Kirigi 2 wounds, which he then discards. Iron Man did manage to push him next to Spider-Girl and Luke Cage. Then Luke Cage causes 2 wounds, which he also discards. Kirigi misses a turn thanks to Spider-Girl. Spider-Girl attacks Kirigi – 2 skulls met with 1 shield gives Kirigi a wound he can’t recover from. Luke Cage gives him 2 wounds which he shakes off again. Elektra has a go at Iron Man but can’t land any damage. Speedball’s multiple low attacks kick Kirigi’s butt – finishing him off. Elektra survives a huge attack from Luke Cage unscathed by rolling 6 shields! In return, she manages a wound on Luke Cage.
Round 5: Spider-Girl moves adjacent to Elektra and attacks, but fails to wound her. Spider-Girl’s power can’t stop Elektra from running off and taking another chunk out of Luke Cage. Spider-Girl and Luke Cage lay into Elektra again, with Luke giving her a wound. She fails to retaliate because of Spider-Girl’s power. Talia Al Ghul tries to attack Luke Cage but fails to land any wounds.
Round 6: Speedball goes bounce crazy, giving Talia 2 wounds and Elektra 3. Spider-Girl fails to stop Elektra moving, and she lands a wound on Spider-Girl. Talia takes a wound from Cage, Iron Man blows Elektra away and Spider-Girl denies Talia a turn.
Round 7: Speedball goes bounce crazy again, killing off Talia and giving Ra’s 4 wounds – Luke Cage mops up Ra’s last life point. Dagger never moved once.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Luke Cage (2 wounds), Iron Man IV, Spider-Girl (1 wound), Speedball & Dagger

Army Test
- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes
- What should be the unit's point value? 170
- Give a brief overview. As the only powerhouse on the team, even the Relentless Kirigi couldn’t last forever.
Map: Platforms 5 & 6
Units: Kirigi (175) Hand Ninja x3 (225), Merlyn (160) & Bullseye (170) [765 points]
vs.
Blob (165), Doctor Octopus (215), Doctor Light (190), Count Vertigo (160) & SHIELD Sniper (40) [770 points]
Conclusions:
Kyoketsu Shogi: I think the wording can be ambiguous “Roll one attack die. If you roll a skull, you may…” “After using this special power, Kirigi may use it one additional time”. Does that mean: Roll a skull and auto-wound or move a figure (twice) or; Roll a die – if a skull auto-wound or move a figure – if you fail (or pass) try for a skull 1 additional time. I went for the latter since it was more balanced. Also, you may want to limit it to small, medium or large figures.
Theme wise, I can see it working as a ranged special attack. If it causes 1 or more wounds, you may move the figure adjacent to Kirigi and then attack that figure again with a normal attack. It gives the idea that if the knife sticks, you can pull them in.
Undead Resilience: I’m not sure about the theme for this one. Wikipedia reads “Kirigi has a seemingly superhuman resistance to pain and injury. He is capable of lifting at least 1,000 pounds. Both a weapons master and an accomplished martial artist, his various areas of expertise include the use of the Katana, Shuriken, Kyoketsu Shogi (rope knife), and sai. In addition, the use of a form of meditation allows him to recover from otherwise-mortal wounds. As a result, he is virtually impervious to all but devastating wounds.”
As he is, he can be picked off with small attacks, but not bigger ones which seems counter-intuitive to me. It was also really frustrating to have someone roll 2 skulls against him, replying with rolling 1 shield would give him 1 damage, but 2 shields would give him no damage. It all seems a bit backwards.
Marvel.com reads “Kirigi is able to heal himself from any wound through meditation, and he is believed to be immortal.
Kirigi is able to heal himself from any wound through meditation, and he is believed to be immortal.” which suggests that the healing takes time.
As an alternative, I would suggest:
When rolling defense dice against an attack, Kirigi adds 1 automatic shield to whatever is rolled. At the end of each round, you may remove up to 2 wound markers from this card.
