Re: The Book of Beyonder - Playtesting Phase
Thanks for your feedback!
I understand your concerns about the point level needed to play this guy ... but the inclusion of the allied figure was a concession made to the LD who didn't want this guy to ever come off as "failable" ... yet we had to maintain game balance at the same time. His point cost is where it is for a few reasons ... the biggest of which is to really represent his power level and the "epic" nature that games with him in them should thematically be.
I think he's one that should sit on a shelf, honestly, and only be taken down a couple of times a year and savored, like fine wine.
Cheers,
Bats

Map: Black Root
Units: Beyonder, Dr Doom, doombot x1 (2,970) vs. Anti Monitor, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing, Human Torch, She Hulk (2,910)
Spoiler Alert!
I played Beyonder and gang vs GamerHusband who had the F4 + AM combo. GH won initiative in the first round and was able to use Master of Time to take away one of my OM's. This turned my focus to taking out AM as quickly as I could... Not as easy as it sounds. The first round played out with Beyonder Summoning AM to him to chip away at his armor while GH was mainly using MF to leap She Hulk into the thick of things and the round ended looking like this.
At this point I began to use Mere Pawns as I had Dr Doom and She Hulk at my disposal should the 20 sider be kind. My first roll dropped a 20 and I attacked AM with both DD and She Hulk which stung a bit. No deaths in this round, as the 4 battled it out with GH focusing on trying to wound Beyonder as opposed to DD.

This was the end of round 2. You can see MF creeping up and AM had used his X to teleport away and shoot down from height.
Round 3 was when things where going good for me. I continued to use Mere Pawns and I took a turn with She Hulk who went and killed Mister Fantastic in 1 hit! This was a crippling blow to GH. With all of GH's OM's on a dead MF I dialed up the heat and picked off another key figure. Beyonder used Supreme Summoning to grab Invisible Woman and she was also killed in this round.

In comes The Thing and She Hulk.. Who gave me a tough time in the next round. Thing nearly killed Doom, and before he did GH cleverly used X on AM to go kill the lone Doombot in the back before taking out DD. Beyonder killed She Hulk as AM finished off DD.
As soon as Doom died Mere Pawns became way to much of a risk to use because if I didn't roll a 12+ I would basically lose my turn. Beyonder backs away from Thing and Summons Human Torch over and kills him in 2 turns.
R7 and 8 where a slug fest between AM and Beyonder.. going back and forth!

In the end...
Beyonder wins with 37 wounds!!

Map: Black Root.
Units: Beyonder, Super Skrull, 1x Skrull Warrior (2,950) vs Hulk, Captain America, Martian Manhunter, Thor, Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash, Alfred Pennyworth, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Robin, Punisher (2,970).
Spoiler Alert!
I wanted to run the second test without Anti Monitor. The first round played out with martian Manhunter moving up and bringing along a few others with him, Beyonder moves up and Summons Green Arrow quickly to break up the BC/GA combo that was being moved up with MM. GA died in turn 3 just as BC reaches him.

Captain America was also moved up with Green Arrow and he joined the battle after Black Canarys death. Once he did I began using Mere Pawns with a nearby Super Skrull.

by the end of round 3 I rolled a 19 for Mere Pawns and was able to use CA to kill MM and then Super Skrull to finish CA. However SS was nearly dead at this point and Beyonder had 8 Wounds on him. Round 4 my opponent focused on killing SS by moving WW up to lasso him down and followed that with Superman who killed Skrull. A fun use of Supreme Summoning occured before Supes killed SSkrull. Beyonder used Supreme Summoning to Summon WW away from SSkrull and thus breaking the Lasso.

Just like the last game, once SSkrull died Mere Pawns became too big of a risk, so it was up to Beyonder with 8 wounds to finish the game for me. He killed WW and battled Supes in the next round who was quickly backed up by a leaping Hulk

Supes eventually died and Hulk recieved a few wounds which he in turn rage smashed Beyonder for some serious hits!
This was one of my favorite uses of Supreme Summoning. I quickly cooled a raging Hulk down by swapping his position with Alfred in the last turn of the round, and killed him in 1 shot! This forced Hulk to leap back over to Beyonder if he wanted to reach him the next turn. But I won Initiative and Summoned Hulk back and killed him! However Supes and Hulk both racked up some serious damage to Beyonder and Thor was approaching fast. The 2 battled it out, but Thor finally ended Beyonder with just 2 life left. Things looked grim for me as Thor met my Skrull Warriors. He quickly killed 1, but the last one rolled 4/4 skulls and killed Thor! Punisher and Robin moved in to clean up the mess though.
Robin and Punish win! Neither one had a wound.
