C3G PLAY TEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT Red Tornado

Pass
- POWER CHECK/ Consider the test unit and all existing units and all glyphs to compare to and check for any powers that could be over amplified and break the game. Each power must define when it takes place, who or what it affects, and What are the stipulations on the power if there are any.
Pass
- FUN TEST/ Consider whether or not the design was fun to play.
Pass (Heck yeah! This guy was a ton of fun!)

- STRATEGY TEST/ Consider whether or not the design offers any real strategy or interesting tactics to the overall game.
Pass (Definitely adds a lot!)
- Heavy Hitter or Mid-Level Hero/ Does it pass, Yes or No? What should be the unit's point value? Give a brief summary. Pass at 300 points
Just as I was setting up the tests, I instantly thought that Red Tornado was overpowered. He ALWAYS had height advantage, except when Wonder Woman managed to lasso him and keep him there. No matter what his opponent’s do, he just throws them to lower grounds every turn (Which is ironic, since they always say to get to the lowest spot when there’s a tornado… Hehe!) So he’s pretty good one on one, he won 3 out of five, and that last Arkillo test could’ve gone either way if he wasn’t so lucky with the 20-sider. But poor Magneto stood no chance whatsoever.
Spoiler Alert!

- Squad / Does it pass, Yes or No? What should be the unit's point value? Give a brief summary. Pass at 300 points.
I was interested how he’d match up against a squad that’s pretty dependant about getting height. I think the test speaks for itself. I think RT’s weakness is actually melee squads. They have to get up close, then he has to choose whether to blow them away, or to fly through them, and that’s a pretty difficult decision.

Right at the beginning, it looked like Tornado and Martian Manhunter would be really powerful together, but the combo really didn’t do that well. I think it has a ton of potential, but I just haven’t figured out how exactly to play Red Tornado yet. He takes a bit of finesse. I think if I would have used MM more, then the game might have not been so much of a landslide. The map, which is a pretty close combat type of map, could have helped hinder their movement abilities, too.
Map: Fossil
Units: Red Tornado, Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Alfred (1000 points) VS. Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Gray, Iceman, Beast, Angel (100 points)
Spoiler Alert!
R1: Martian Manhunter (MM) moves Red Tornado (RT), who then blows Alfred up 2 spaces. The Mutants advance, and MM flies up and gives Iceman 2 wounds, then gives orders to have RT move everyone else up with his winds. Beast jumps on the road, and Iceman misses a shot at MM. Green Arrow (GA) puts a wound on Angel, and Cyclops gives Black Canary (BC) a wound.
R2: Cyclops kills Alfred in one his, and puts 3 wounds on RT. Beast gives BC another 2 wounds, but she retaliates by punching him back for a wound, then GA gives supporting fire, giving Beast another wound. Beast negotiates with BC, and Jean moves up to join the battle. BC loses her turn, then Beast puts 3 wounds on GA, and Jean moves next to MM and gives him 2 wounds. RT throws Beast into the water by flying over him, then punches his for 2 wounds.
R3: BC puts 3 wounds on Cy, misses on her 2nd attack. GA finishes Cyclops. Beast negotiates RT, jumps over him and finishes GA. Jean throws MM off height, does 2 more wounds to him. MM jumps back to height, gives Jean a wound. Iceman tries to deep freeze MM, but misses, and Jean throws him off the height again, but misses the attack this time. RT loses his turn from the negotiation, and Jean gives another wound on MM, and Iceman freezes him to death.
R4: Beast negotiates the “3” marker off of RT, and jumps away. Jean throws RT, dealing one wound, but misses her normal attack. RT chucks everyone off of height and charges towards Prof. X. The Prof. blocks a 4 skull attack with his psychic defense. Jean throws RT into the water, dealing one wound, and finishes him off with her normal attack. RT loses his turns, and Beast and Iceman both fail to damage BC.
R5: BC punches out Beast, finishes him, then Iceman freezes her in the back.
Beast and Cyclops were dead, and the others had a few wounds scattered throughout. I forgot to record exactly what, though, sorry.

- Army Test/ Does it pass, Yes or No? What should be the unit's point value? Give a brief summary. Pass at 300 points
My plan with this army was to have Red Tornado position the enemies by trees or in groups to that Green Goblin and Ivy could tear them apart, with Vertigo screwing up their range. This failed hard, with Vertigo dying so quickly, and Ivy following not too long after. And RT failed so many attacks, I felt bad for the poor guy.
Map: Fossil
Units: Red Tornado, Green Goblin, Count Vertigo, Poison Ivy (855 points) VS. Batman, Robin, Alfred, Punisher, Commissioner Gordon, Beat Cops x3 (845)
Spoiler Alert!
Gordon chooses Batman for his Batsignal
R1: Gordon moves up, bringing 4 cops along. RT flies over his team, moving them all up. Punisher deals 1 wound to RT with his normal attack, and RT flies up to Punisher and gives him a wound with his Tornado Force, throwing him into the water, and also killing a cop. Cops run forward, but RT blocks all of their shots. Ivy moves onto the middle road, and has her plants attack 5 figures, but only hits one cop.
R2: Vertigo moves up to screw with some range, and misses an attack on Punisher. Bats charges towards Ivy, hoping to stop her from tearing the cops apart, and gives her 2 wounds. Robin misses RT. Ivy fails to seduce Batman, but her plants give Batman a wound, and kills another cop. Punisher attacks Vertigo with his normal attack to prevent him from being too much of an annoyance, and kills him on the first attack! GG shoots at Bats, but Bats evades and gives him a wound. Bats then puts 3 more wounds on Ivy, and Robin jumps by Bats to try to finish her, but misses.
R3: Bats kills Ivy, and Robin jumps next to RT, but misses. Ivy loses her turn, she was hoping to win initiative, potentially seducing Batman and animating her plants one more, but that failed. Punisher misses his rocket on RT, and Robin grapples next to Punisher and attacks RT with the attack bonus, but misses. GG bombs Gordon, rolling 3 skulls, but an adjacent cop saves him from taking a wound, since the cop most likely would have blown up anyway. GG then shoots a cop by Robin. Punisher shoots GG with his normal attack, dealing 3 wounds, and Robin grapples over to finish off GG. GG loses his turn.
R4: RT misses TFSA on Punisher and Robin, then Punisher shoots his rocket at RT, missing. Robin misses his attack as well. RT whiffs ANOTHER TFSA roll, then Bats jumps adjacent to RT and him and Robin beat on RT, to no avail. RT finally rolls a skull for his special attack, but is easily blocked. Alfred extracts Punisher, healing him one wound, and misses a shotgun attack on RT.
R5: RT’s TFSA is blocked by Bats and Robin again, and Punisher runs to a cop for protection, and shoots a rocket at RT, dealing a nasty 4 wounds. Robin misses his attack. RT gives up on his tornados, and punches Robin, dealing 2 wounds, but it’s too late, and Punisher guns him down with his normal attack.
5 Cops were dead, Robin had 2 wounds, and Batman had 1 wound.
I think Red Tornado’s a very good unit. He did very well in the heavy hitter tests, and okay in the squad tests. Even though his team failed the army tests pretty badly, I think he just needs some more use to be able to figure him out. Once he’s figured out, he’ll be a nightmare on many battlefields, I’m sure. The main two points I think are that he ALWAYS has height in one-on-one battles, and the choice between stealth flying plus moving the enemies, or attacking twice is a very tough choice. I never really figured out which to use, which is mainly why I think he lost his army tests.
Great design, and INCREDIBLY fun!
PASS at 300 points.
