Resizing Animated Images Tutorial

There have been quite a few requests from Heroscapers members who are trying to resize some of the excellent animated GIFs of Heroscape characters. Luckily, there is a simple approach for doing this.

If you don't have access to Paint Shop Pro, or PhotoShop's animation tool, you can use a free, online tool - Free Online Image Editor - to resize animated images.

Let's try it out with JairEmia's awesome Fen Hydra:

1. Obtain the URL to the Hydra. In FireFox, right click on the Fen Hydra image (in JariEmia's signature, for example) and choose Properties. This will give you the LOCATION to the hosted image: .

2. Open up FREE ONLINE IMAGE EDITOR in your browser. Choose FILE>OPEN. Under Or Fetch from Web, paste in the URL that you copied in step 1. Place a check next to Convert during upload to and choose GIF. Click on Upload. (you can also resize as needed, or wait until the next step).
3. You should now see the animated image in the online editor. Choose Edit>Resize/Crop>Resize. You should then see a red rectangle surrounding the image. Place your cursor on the bottom right corner and then resize until you reach the desired size. Choose Apply.
4. Choose File>Save. You can download the image to your computer, or automatically have it saved on ImageShack. If you go the ImageShack route, you should get a URL for your image. You can then paste this URL into your signature, forum post, etc.
= Baby Hydra

There are other options that the ONLINE IMAGE EDITOR offers, so feel free to play around with it as needed. Security Disclaimer: Just be careful what you open up with the editor (don't open photos/images that you don't potentially want the whole world to see, as you never know exactly where your images will end up).
