Sorry I can't really help you out for an eight player map since the most i every play with is 4 if I'm lucky. But I would sugjest just moding a 4 player map by redusing the points, I know thats much...

Japan would be pretty sweet :D , maybe adding some land on the west, like the edge of China or Korea :) . Theres also plenty of mountains in Japan so the games should be good and the smaller...

I flocked almost a whole masterset but I havn't got around to finishing it lately. I have to say, the painting was fun, the grass flocking was kinda fun, but the rock was MURDER, you would get glue...
