Re: Raudulfr's Customs - updated 12-18-08

I don't have a whole lot to add, but I did want to just say how much I enjoyed the art layout for your cards. Gave me some serious nostalgia flashbacks to one of my favorite posters, in addition to...

Re: bmaczero's Assorted Customs

The Boy Scouts are pretty hilarious, though having been one myself I have a hard time picturing them as a 110 point unit. ;) Any figures for an accompanying scout master or maybe some girl scouts...

Re: The Zaravi Incursion!!!

That's Ebay for ya. Unfortunately customs are in such a legally murky area that I doubt there'd be anything we could do, except frown mightily in the direction of scruples-deprived sellers profiting...

Fanfiction.net has a Heroscape category!

...and guess who just happens to have the first fic in it. <.< It's an oldy, but I've had some minor ideas for other HS stories floating around that I'll get to pen most likely sooner rather than...

Re: Custom Q9 counter: Fuma Kotaro

Fuma would certainly have a serviceable niche in the game without being too powerful outside of the niche. Anything that decreases cookie cutters is a good thing. One thing I would tweak is the...

Re: Heroscape A Tabletop Equivalent To Video Games?

Well, Heroscape certainly does capture the 'ooh, shiny!' element of video games that is a large part of the draw. But I think that the main difference between board games and video games is inherent...

Re: A Loser's Guide to Winning Tournaments

if you're losing all the time anyway, draft an army with improbable chances of success. Runa, Deathwalker 7K, and Dund, or something like that. That way, if you lose yet again, it's clearly the...

Re: Piherculis' customs- *1 new* Bynreen Kyrie & the Dire St

The primary difference being that cyberclaw still gives a melee figure a chance to break out, by killing the cyberclaw-er. A secondary difference would be the limited mobility of cyberclaw-ers,...

Re: NEW Trial of Tribal Berserkers by Barbell Hero

Their offensive abilities have a great deal of synergy. While not necessarily unbalanced once priced correctly, I think more people would be accepting of them if their abilities weren't so...

Re: Piherculis' customs- *1 new* Bynreen Kyrie & the Dire St

The Dire Stone ability is very creative and interesting, but I don't think a paralysis aura that is unbreakable by melee figures can ever really be balanced as such. It just screws with too many...

Re: straight repaints of heroscape figs

This was the primary aim of the Bizarro Project, which attempted to make thematic 'evil twins' of Master Set figures. Unfortunately Reapersaurus apparently never got around to reposting the project...

Re: NEW Trial of Gourd Mantis by Lotus

Pretty much all terrain-specific units seem underpowered to some extent or other when used on maps that don't contain their terrain. If the previous playtests were on non-jungle maps, I wouldn't...

Re: NEW Trial of Gourd Mantis by Lotus

My only real quibble with the card is his special attack. Using attack dice for anything other than... well, attack, just feels wrong to me. This special attack seems to just use them as a variant...

Re: Kamakazi's Custom Units

Graphically, they could use a polishing, but you can see what needs to be done there easily enough just by looking back and forth between one of your cards and one of the official ones. In mechanics...

In memorarium to Heroscape customs.

The following is mostly just my opinion. You are free to agree, disagree, or ignore it completely as you please. You are forewarned that there is potential for controversy.

The customs...

Re: Pokemon Heroscape Project

Glyphs are balanced around being mutually beneficial to both sides. Give evolution glyphs some kind of standby ability to powerup a non-Pokemon figure capturing said glyph and it would seem balanced...

Too many people with kneejerk negative emotional reactions towards customs for this to be viable as a way of keeping the product's fanbase alive, unfortunately.
The mechanisms for creating...

Re: Pokemon Heroscape Project

In the interest of consistency and keeping the project size manageable, wouldn't it be better to at least initially limit contributions to the TFG figures available? If you start with the whole huge...

I'm definitely a swarmer. Venocs and Marros and zombies. In addition to providing more tactical options, there's something about sacrificing a huge amount of figures to take one enemy down and...

Re: POKEMON Heroscape Custom Cards

With respect to figures, I assume everyone's using the trading figures game (http://www.go-pokemon.com/tfg/) as their reference? Is anyone aware of the scale on 'em, once taken off their too-high...

Re: Best movie monster/creature/thing that's NOT human

Gremlins, from the movies of the same name. What other movie monster screws with the actual reel of the film you're watching them from, before Hulk Hogan forces them to let the movie proper resume?
