Re: BattleLore Discussion

Some quick-ish "theory-loring" notes for you:

All very reasonable - though I wouldn't suggest limiting the skilled abilities to only blue and green banners. While it is a natural association...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Somewhat ironically, I first tried Vassal with HeroScape - not a very good platform for HS ;) I find it works fabulously for the Commands & Colors games. I think Vassal is pretty intuitive to set...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Hey, Taeblewalker, chas, jbbnbsmith (and anyone else reading and potentially interested), it's been awhile since I begged for a game of BattleLore on Vassal here at HeroScapers - so this is me doing...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Like Jazz, I'm also a fan :) And, like Jazz, I also find a lot of value in the dwarf and goblin expansions. Unless supporting your local game store is part of the objective, you should be able to get...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Could you shed a little more light on this? I try to follow the BL news when I can, but I haven't heard about full armies for future sale.[/quote]

Aside from some hints in the FFG news blogs,...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

I echo most of champrjk's comments (though the set-up time has never been an issue for me - all relative, I suppose). I've played this game more than any other since its release (with Commands &...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

I really enjoy playing the scenarios that come with that expansion - they all present situations that I find very interesting to try to exploit and mitigate for each side.

I love the full war...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Yes, it is red. There are two very impactful differences that the lancers have though: Mounted Knights are bold and ignore the first bonus strike rolled by all units in close combat - meaning they...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Nope. Unless you count the announced Heroes event at GenCon as news. No indication from FFG as of yet whether that is wishful thinking or scheduled with the release in mind.

Re: Sports: NBA

I don't think the Rockets will have much success if pissing Kobe off is one of their key strategies. Now, if what Artest is whispering into Kobe's ear is something like "That you've won 60+ games...

Re: Sports: NBA

It is only two games, but I am very happy to have been wrong on Billups. My rationalization is that it was too perfect of a story for me to believe it could go anywhere but wrong - being a fan of...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

I very much enjoy playing the scenarios in HYW - they are ripe with tough choices to be made. And the Medieval Lore rules are an excellent variant. I still prefer the mayhem of a full lore council,...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

I'm really looking forward to its release as well (have been for 2 years now  ). In general I am excited to see what FFG does with BL. I'm hoping it is something like this:

I appreciate the...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Sorry if I come off as nitpicky here, but I get a little defensive when it comes to BattleLore  - I wouldn't characterize the game as having a lot of issues. To me, the game is incredibly...

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Though some may consider what DoW and FFG have (haven't ) done with it to be a fair job of suffocation, it is not dead. C&C is too elegant of a system to be killed off ;)

Even if nary...

Re: Music: What are you listening to right now?

Hey now, "cd" is a format, "album" is a collection of recordings ;) Though I will admit that I do enjoy sounding like I'm 70. I've been shooting for bitter old man since I was 9 and realized the...

I have been trying to like their music for years. I'll take your post as a sign that I should try again :) Any recommendations for an album to pick up?

Re: Best Board Game EVAR?

Good thread to dig back up :)

Re: BattleLore Discussion

Just like in a face to face game :D

Seriously, this is an aspect of Vassal that I very much enjoy. Plays freely, as one would in a face to face game, up to the players to enforce the rules.
