Re: Circus of the Absurd...Combad in Heroscape

I don't mean to be trite at all, but games of this type require an amount of "willing suspension of disbelief." The pieces themselves are, in reality, tokens on the board, and their actions are...

Re: Anyone care to help me create a Unique Mounted Marro?

Name suggestion: Tri-Vok-Sa (pronounced "tree") would be a nice little nod to acknowledge the 3-horned mount.

Re: What Makes a Man a Man?

It's not original to me, but I can't remember where I heard it. Like most proverbs, it's more profound if you can resist explaining it.

Re: What Makes a Man a Man?

"What is man that you are mindful of him?" (Psalm 8:4)

A man is a man when he buries his father.

Re: Army of One (Card)

500 points of arrow gruts. Fast moving, 3 figs, range. You'll take terrible losses but if you can grab high ground and a glyph you can batter down tougher individual opponents.

Re: POLL: How important to you is the backstory?

I was going to write "Backstory? What backstory?" until someone else did. Seriously, I always thought it was a little lame. I got the point that HS was going to be a mash-up skirmish game, and I...

Re: Using Glyphs in a Different Way

We also use the glyphs as ways to customize a scenario. A unit, or one side, begins play with a glyph permanently in their possession for the duration of the game.

Re: Xena?

I've got one, but it's rough because my graphic arts skills are primitive. PM me with an email address and I'll send it to you. (I can't figure out how to post the card here.) There were cards for...

Re: The Chitauri ARE the Marro!

ROFL - Why didn't I think of that? I kept thinking "These guys don't look like Skrulls" while I was watching the movie! I gotta admit, there never was a movie that made me want to play Heroscape as...

Re: Could Netrunner be a good omen?

What's the Dust Tactics basic set market for? Those minis are unpainted, and the map is just printed. I think the similarities and differences are worth considering to estimate a price. Plus, the...

Re: Could Netrunner be a good omen?

I think that if HS were to return, it would be marketed in the niche gaming market: gaming stores and online. Would it be unreasonable to expect $100 -$120 for a new master set, with boosters in the...

Re: I need some help

I disagree. This thread belongs in "Heroscape, General" because it's about a common problem in groups, gaming groups included. People bring their personalities with them when they game, including...

No, you did nothing wrong. Borderline Personality Disorder is an extremely distructive disorder for friends and acquaintances of the person with the disorder. She needs professional help, not the...

Re: Fun House Rules

I vote for a blatant group thread-jack. Order Markers are Heroscape! I played for about a year without them. I couldn't see the point since I solo a lot, and none of the other skirmish games I play...

Re: Ootgar or Uhtgar?

Re: Why I stopped playing Heroscape

You know, wargaming is a hobby, not a marriage. Playing another game is not adultery. I haven't played a HS game in weeks (gasp!) but have warggamed regularly. Right now, my son is into strictly...

Re: Seeking strictly fantasy themed 'scape buying advice.

There are a number of LotR customs posted on this site that you can use if you want to LotR (film) theme your game. I've played them and they work perfectly. I also use the Combat Hex minis for...

Re: Seeking strictly fantasy themed 'scape buying advice.

Which other pre-painted minis which are readily available for cheap are a good fit sticking strictly to those which can easily match or pass with the classic fantasy theme? (main concerns being...

Re: Seeking strictly fantasy themed 'scape buying advice.

If you don't mind proxies, you can get out of this even cheaper. Conventional fantasy figures are available from a number of makers for around a buck apiece unpainted. One of the most valuable gaming...

Re: Seeking strictly fantasy themed 'scape buying advice.

I would put the fortress somewhere near the bottom of your priority list if your budget is limited. It's just not very useful, even in a fantasy setting.

Re: Gary's Heroscape Site

That's very cool TMRose. When my son first got the game Christmas 2004, when he was 8 years old, we played 4 or 5 Basic Games.

I still feel there is a lot of potential in the Basic Game, but...

Re: Books: What are you currently reading?

That sounds like an interesting read. Warren Zevon wrote some of my favorite songs: "Carmelita," "Lawyers, Guns and Money," and "Accidentally, Like a Martyr."
