Rather than just replace positive rep with a comment upvote, I would prefer having a visual count of times a post has been positive repped while keeping positive rep.

The vast majority of the time I hand out neg rep is with bots. I report the bot, and neg rep. Ideally that gives a red marker on the bot's posts in case admins or mods aren't available to dust off...

I like to think that rep played a small role in the culture here. At the very least it gave an outlet so reactions to mildly problematic behavior didn't blow up into something worse.
