Re: What is your Favorite Holiday?

Halloween!

It's candy and dress-up and scaring people; what's not to love?

Re: Sculpt Polls! 43. Zombies of Morindan

I went Chompy.

The zombies are my favorite squad in the game. Chompy highlights one of their strengths by taking that small hit zone and ducking down a bit, making it even easier to hide.

Re: Wellspring Scenario

Except that map is way cooler than what we used!

Ours was a rectangle bisected the short way by a river; we sealed off the ends and added a bit to the middle of the river and called it a...

Re: The Who

The Who is my all-time favorite group. Saw them in '83 (with The Clash!) and '89, but not since (I guess I got old before I died).

Wellspring Scenario

My 11 year-old came up with a scenario that was kind of fun:

The map has a wellspring in the center. All cards start on the basic side. Once that figure reaches the water, it drinks from the...

Re: What figures would you like to have seen?

I'd be on board for a lot of the stuff already mentioned (especially cool ones that never occurred to me, like spitting vipers). I wish that we could have gotten more animals: bears would be...

Re: Heros or.........Vilians

I vote heroes.

Red Skull isn't much help for the villains.

Cap + Hulk + Surfer puts the heroes over the top.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

Saw The Muppets today.

It was very cute and very sweet (and I don't mean either in a pejorative sense); the kids found it very funny. Both leads were perfectly cast.

If you're a fan of The...

Re: WotC has a survey about Miniatures games

Taken.

I took the short form, but touted the endless variety of 'scape as its major draw, also noting that it's not just battling (or skirmishing, in this case), but that it offers a story and...

Re: Bums

Often I find that they don't even want food. I've offered to buy food many times as I'm heading into a market or fast food place (or offer something out of my bag as I'm walking out). Only once...

Re: An Apologetic Revdyer

I posted a similar thread about the D&D figures, so I can fully empathize.

But the people posting here aren't looking for answers--they have them already. They're just posting their "D'oh!" moments because misery loves company.

Re: Elementals

I voted earth. In our games, we've had the best luck with him in terms of being able to lay down some damage.

Re: The Book of Sir Hawthorne

For Stab in the Back, can I give my Hawthorne to a team-mate? I guess I don't know if "opponent" = "opposing player" or simply "another player." I'm assuming the former, but the question was raised...

Re: Aquilla's Alliance @ cost

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Lamaclown again.

I'll catch you later.

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

My ten year-old wanted to institute a family game night (hey, any excuse to stay up later) and tonight was the trial run:

Monsters Menace America
Dread Pirate
Carcassonne

A good time was...

Re: What Board Game Are You Currently Playing?

Toys R Us stores in Southern California have had it for a few weeks now. We've got three out of the four sets already and the customization that Aldin cites has been ongoing: regular minifigures...

Re: Academics Anonymous on Scapers: Editorial Board for JoHS

Yep; I got the letter last Friday saying that everything is done, but that tenure isn't official until the start of the new fiscal year. So in ten more days I'm in!

As I teach literature and...

Re: Academics Anonymous on Scapers: Editorial Board for JoHS

My tenure clock runs out as of July 1, so it's official: I finally have a career (as opposed to a series of adjuncting jobs).

Re: LEGO GAME: Heroica (Dungeon Crawl)

We played again today, adding the caverns. The game is beginning to grow on me. Admittedly, part of the appeal is that I'm a Lego junkie. But it's also a dungeon crawl that my five year-old can...

Re: The Book of Sonlen

You should use him just 'cause.

He's actually one of my favorite figures in the game; utilizing all three powers on one order marker is part of it. Being able to place wounds that bypass defense...

Re: LEGO GAME: Heroica (Dungeon Crawl)

The strategy threw me a bit, as it seems like you're better off splitting up rather than sticking together (as in most other dungeon crawls). Most of the passageways only allow one hero through at a...
