Re: What are your thoughts on using 2d proxies?

The problem with 2d proxies is the LoS issue, but I think that's fixed fairly easily. When determining LoS, swap the proxy with a 3D figure. It doesn't even have to be the player's. Anyone's would...

Re: Agent Carr's Value at Range?

His ranged attack honestly feels more like a special attack. I don't think there is a good way to "build" your army to take advantage of his ranged attacks rather than using him as a melee figure,...

Re: Email to WotC collaboration. If you have ideas post here

This matter has already been discussed, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway.

There is nothing we can do to coerce or force WotC to return to producing Heroscape. Heroscape has a relatively...

Re: How to fix broken/underused units?

Keep in mind that the power rankings are in regards to tournament level play, where players typically have access multiple squads of the same figure. 4th Mass., for instance, doesn't outshine the...

Re: Attack or Defense?

Are we ignoring the rest of your army? If you only have one figure, 4/4 would be better than 3/5, but if you have an army with you, you might want to keep Finn alive so he can buff the rest of your...

Re: 3 Player Games - Ethics?

I've played a lot of 3 FFAs in my Heroscape Career because it is apparently really difficult to get four people to meet at one time. There is no way to make a FFA fair, although if you are playing...

Re: cleaning terrain

Vinegar removes odors well, although I'm not sure what it would do to the plastic. Perhaps dip a cloth in it and wipe it down?

Re: YouTube Unit Guide?

It may be true that a strategy article is better. However, I think that visuals would help nicely as well. When I can find some time after AP testing, I might try my hand at making some...

Re: Collegescape?

I'm not too worried about theft. Just saying it could happen, and wondering what people have done about it. Thanks for the tips. Now I just need to convert my roommate.

Collegescape?

I'm attending college next fall, and I'm undecided about Heroscape. I really want to bring my collection, but it takes up a few containers and dorm space is very limited. And theft could also be a...

Re: I'm pretty sure everybody is annoyed by this guy...

Perhaps the best way to beat your friend is to play by the rules :P. Don't give him the height advantage for special attacks. I would use Sgt. Drake, especially SotM edition as his 4 defense should...

Re: A Nice Fight

Have her pick the armies, or help you pick them. That way you play with figures she thinks are "nice" or whatever. In my experience, people are happier when they have some control over the game.

Re: The (not so official) Index of Infinite Use Abilities

I didn't realize you could use Berserker Charge multiple times! That's kind of cool.

Re: Petition to save Heroscape

I'm in for sure. I would be happy with just reprints, even, as I missed a lot first time around.

Re: Defense Dice Statistics

We're you approximating the binomial with a normal distribution here? That number seemed a bit low to me, so I plugged it in to a binomial cdf function I had lying around and I got something over...

Re: The Slow Win

Perfect?!?!

I just want to make the game into something I want to play. I hate playing against "slow and turtling" armies, so I'm coming up with a method make my local tournament seen match my...

Re: Defense Dice Statistics

Well... I'm not sure if I had much of a point, other than proving that the design of the die isn't flawed like I believed it to be (at least according to my tests). If anything, my two tests prove...

Re: The Slow Win

There's been a lof of good ideas thrown out, but I don't think any one system is foolproof. The best we can do is pick one and hope our opponent is gracious enough to not exploit the loop holes of...

Re: The Slow Win

Well... not quite.

I like the idea though. Using the time limit to win games isn't quite as thrilling or fair to me. Now there is actually motivation to engage the opponent!

Re: Defense Dice Statistics

It was actually this exact scenario that prompted me to start examining the defense die. Interestingly, I ran a separate test just about an hour ago where I intentionally rolled the die so the...

Defense Dice Statistics

WARNING: This thread contains the slightly deranged ramblings of someone who has horrible luck on defense rolls.

I have mentioned before that I think the defense dice design is slightly flawed. ...

Re: Reducing spam

Spam is annoying, but unless it is obscene in some way it isn't a big enough deal to warrant a captcha for each post. The members of this site are pretty quick at catching the spammers.

Re: What type of theme should the next Master Set have?

Island themed, somehow. Lots of water tiles, tropical plants, and maybe a ship?

Re: Are there any terrain-only expansions in the works?

I think it's probable. As other people have pointed out, it would be cheap to produce and it would probably sell pretty well, so WotC has no economic reason not to make it. I think if enough people...
