Personally I thought Unique Hero did give it a little thematic flourish that it was a quality of like, specific named heroic characters. The open-to-anyone version loses a touch of that. Very minor...

I was wondering about that but didn't think we actually had hero/squad cards without Range/Attack? Took a peek at the rulebook and it only seemed to acknowledge DOs without Range/Attack.
