Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
Ixe played Macdirks in our Gencon prep event last year and did pretty well with it. He had Isamu in his army, and his usual round 1 OM 1 move was to have Isamu punch Alistair in the face.

#needsmorequotes
Seriously, though, I agree with your point. People are completely free to set the goals that make sense for themselves, and I don't think it's necessary to judge them for it. ...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
I faced both Gladblastx2 + Raelin and stingersx5 + Raelin last year, and I didn't face the rats/hydra/braxas or 10th/Raelin/Q10 build. There's definitely still cheese out there, just not as much as...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
If you have been playing a lot of Q9s you've been pretty snakebit.
2010 (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=31715) (pre-RtW): Q9s everywhere (13/72 armies had Q9, 4 made day 2)...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
Pretty sure Cleon's army had Hydra, not Krav.
Truth.
It's an 18 figure max. So, if you just want to make day 2, damn the torpedoes, then...
120 Deathreavers x3
180 Major Q9
80 Raelin

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
Unless I was playing some sort of restricted format, I would never play TKN without the Marrden Nagrubs. Nagrub healing is an exceptionally powerful ability, and is extremely important to getting...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
That's a really really solid army. No obvious counters, lots of figures, good against heroes, good against range, good against hordes. Order markers could be a touch tricky, though, so I'd practice...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
Well, it depends on whether your goal is to kill a lot of figures, or to be the last one standing. If your goal is the latter, then Thanos is fine - just concentrate on taking out opposing...

A Marvel-legal free for all, on a map with lots of vertical rise? I think the obvious choice is Thanos. The AE are also good, because you can hold off on the drop until you are running low on other...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
I disagree with your basic premise here, on two points:
The point of using special attacks against rats is not to kill them all, or even to reduce them to sub-squad activation. It's to prevent...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
For versatility, you're probably right. I sort of want to go snipersx4, or repulsorsx4+Zetacron, though.[/quote]
From my limited experience, I think I'd shy away from the Sniper/Repulsor mix and...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
Take out Major Q9 **ducks stones and tomatoes**. I think the Minions would benefit from including Deathreavers (in this case, two squads). Use the last 100pts on Krav. You'll still get three ranged...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
Good work as always, kc.
It's tough to argue with proven tournament success. Otherwise, I would argue for adding some rats and a major, possibly at the expense of the warlord. This means you're...

Or, even more pure grutt-ery:
80 Raelin RotV
120 Arrow Gruts x3
125 Swog Rider x5
120 Krug
150 Mimring
595, 24 hexes
You could go Grutsx4, Swogsx3, Isamu in stead, too.

600, 23 hexes

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
Unsurprisingly, I notice some big parallels between the Range+Raelin+Blocker armies I'm suggesting.
Consider the 550 point "Vydar Ranged" army, versus the Glad/Blast army I just suggested. Both...

Re: 600 Point Competitive Armies
When I've used this class of armies, I've gone 4thx3, KoWx2. But that was at lower point levels, with more frail champions, so the same logic may not apply. I'm enjoying hearing the differing...
