When attacking an adjacent figure with Crossbones, if the defending figure would roll 4 or fewer defense dice, that figure rolls 1 fewer...

Might even riff off of Brutal Double Attack and make it so if he wounds anyone they take an additional wound but get that bonus against no SS figures.
