Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Oh. Yeah. Sorry, not trying to be pedantic about the centurions. But it *is* what I do for a living (or lack of a living), so I thought I might as well chime in. I'll lecture anybody if given the...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Roman historian working on a PhD here.

Depending on period, there were about 80 centurions in each Roman legion, one per "century" (about 80 men in Caesar's time). Their main role was training,...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Haha thanks D_S. It isn't your guys' fault that there are few figures out there. Who's up for starting a pre-painted minis company? :D I hear that factories (and their employee base) are being...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Because Typhon2222 and I are not at all interested in anything not fantasy-related (soulborgs, droids, army men, Marvel, space vixens, et cetera), the options for new cards, especially common squads,...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

I think the skeletons come in different colors, but I can't seem to find them on the Reapers page right now (those guys need a new web design team very badly). IIRC one skeleton has a deathly black...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

As far as the same-sculpt squad thing, I have scoured the interwebs looking for possible pre-painted figures that could be used to make up classic squads with different poses, etc. The cream of the...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Hence why I just said that changing the sidebar of the card is a non-issue. It takes 5 seconds in MSE.

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

The "horde" class and "skeletal" personality are not elegant solutions, but it had to be that way for the greater undead faction we have going (typhon said it succinctly above).

I would have no...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Seems like Mr. Gargoyle could be a real pain if you can manage to get him on a defense glyph or (shudder) a wound glyph. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, either...

What, then, is the Blue Wyrmling a mini-Dragon of?

A yet-to-be-nominated lightning-based large Dragon, of course!

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Oooh, I was soooo hoping KC's Green Wyrmling would make it through, particularly because there is a rumor that a Copper Wyrmling (to match Mimring) is waiting in the rafters to swoop down and...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Oh yeah, oops, I didn't read that last part of Killometer's sentence closely enough. So moving climbing up a 4-high cliff for a Goatman would cost 2 move (1,2,3 ignored, then 1 up and 1 over). My...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Yes, exactly. I think everything else that is not mentioned there stays normal by default. It's no big deal to add a disclaimer about climbing and falling at the end, though, if deemed necessary.

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Yay!

Also, Killometer, I didn't realize you were the Killometer when we were all at the meet in the SouthBay the other day (I'm new to this forum stuff). If I had, I would have "compelled" you to...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

I see what you mean, Strack9. I think that as it is worded now, climbing and falling are excluded de facto. Maybe the SoV judges will have something to say about this issue eventually.

At any...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

While looking for good images of the Reaper figs, I ran across a thread somewhere from mid-April indicating that the Reaper line was not only still in production, but was expanding. The skeletons...

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion

It is probably the case that the designers didn't realize that "retiarius" is a common Latin word and not a name.

It's no issue though -- I made up a bunch of unpronouncable Beholder names;...
