Was wondering if I should buy that one or if we were going to go for something bigger.
All the figures in that line are about as big as you can get and still fit on two hexes.

Looks cool to me. :)

I’m honestly just not sure about a Prime-sized Godzilla, but if it’s a sacrifice we have to make I’d get over it.

We need a picture of that next to some Hulkbuster Soldiers or Civilians or something.

Looks about the same size as my Kong figure.

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

I mean, I think that's the path to go if we're realistic about getting them into C3G. Holding out for Galactus sized is probably not realistic (or necessary, IMO).

Tornado July 14th, 2019 10:52 PM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

There is a bigger figure but it will not fit on two hexes.

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

I have a Galactus size Godzilla figure ... takes two bases ... the tail is the most difficult. No pics on hand atm tho.

I'm not sure what the availability of the figure is anymore; used to find it everywhere.

Tornado July 26th, 2019 03:33 PM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

Yeah, we need to decide on this so I can buy the right figure while they are still available.

A vote, perhaps?

A. Double-space Godzilla
B. Bigger than that!

B for sure

Lazy Orang July 26th, 2019 04:11 PM

I think getting those larger than double-spaced rules working will open up a lot for us....
B if we can make it work, though if we can't I'd rather do A than nothing at all.

A for me. Galactus eats planets. Godzilla eats buildings. No reason Godzilla needs to be bigger than Anti-Monitor, IMO.

11" tall (head to toe) ... 6 3/4 wide outside of the left foot to outside of right foot) ... 10 1/2-ish (Nose to tail)

I've used him for some scenarios. This figure fits on hexes--two double-space bases (similar, if not the same as Galactus) but will probably not work on most competitive maps. However, the figure works well on open and flat city battlefields. Nevertheless, I've had a player use Godzilla on a competitive-style battlefield and it worked ... there just wasn't much for Godzilla to do.

Tornado July 26th, 2019 06:22 PM

Thanks Hellfire.
Looks like I may need to get both figures. :)
The smaller one is around ,$12 I think. The bigger is 20 or 30 believe.

A

No figure will ever be close to the right scale unless the ‘figure’ is a dude in a Godzilla suit you pay to have stand on your table. So might as well be wrong but practical over still wrong but also impractical.

I’d just throw in something at the end of the bio about Mr. Fantastic (or Antman or whoever) trying to shrink him again (he’s been shrunk before in Marvel comics) and it just not quite taking all the way.

Lord Pyre July 26th, 2019 10:17 PM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

Iím fine with A. Too big and heís unwieldily. Not a problem with Galactus but Godzilla needs to move around.

MrNobody July 26th, 2019 10:34 PM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

I guess I just don’t see him moving around as that impractical, just give him 0 move and a placement power. Unwieldily maybe, and he may not fit on every spot on the map, but with enough range on his Atomic Fire that probably won’t really hinder him.

My main problem is that Godzilla’s #1 attribute is being really freaking big. The reason people like Godzilla is because he’s massive and smashes tons of stuff. If we’re making a Godzilla that’s just the size of your average Heroscape dragon, what’s really exciting about it specifically being Godzilla? Putting Godzilla into C3G without making him as large as possible feels a bit like missing the forest for the trees.

I'm more of an option C. I prefer what is best both thematically and mechanically.

Arch-vile July 26th, 2019 11:07 PM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

I'm with Karat. Whatever works for the design. X-wing and Armada both have a sliding scale for bigger space ships so they can fit on the battlefield. I think it's okay to have the same for Godzilla, but there's no need to restrict to 2 spaces in case a design that's bigger works.

quozl July 27th, 2019 12:38 AM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

FYI: the 11 inch tall Godzilla is only about 3 inches taller than the one that fits on a double-spaced base. It's bigger in other dimensions too, of course.

Yodaking July 27th, 2019 01:59 AM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

I feel he needs to move around and smash things to feel like Godzilla. If he can't move, you don't have much incentive to engage with him, just sit back and shoot. Then he's only using the Breath Attack every turn, and that doesn't seem much like Godzilla to me. I mean maybe engage him with someone you don't care about losing like a Fire Ant to soak up his attack. Although I could see one of his powers being able to ignore tiny/small/medium/large figures he's engaged with and just use his breath attack on whoever he wants.

That being said, I'm not going to cast a vote here as I'm not sure if I'll ever pick up a Godzilla figure or print out the card. So those who are for sure going to be investing money into it should have more say then me in how he's executed. Then if one day I decided to get the figure and card, I'll just get whatever you guys settled on.

I'm oddly more interested in maybe getting a King Kong figure and card, but only if we get more buildings done for him to climb up the side of while carrying Mary Jane or Lois Lane. Having Spidey or Superman rescue their love interest from King Kong just seems like it could be a lot of fun. Especially if he somehow works well with the GCW and other Simians we already have. King Kong leading a big army of apes would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, this, pretty much. I do also still think that getting those more than two space movement rules moving again would be a massive boon to us generally - how big is Fin Fang Foom?

Ambivalent. I'd like to see him in C3G, but I've never seen a Godzilla movie. (I have vague memories of watching that cartoon as a kid though, with Godzilla.... and Godzooky)

I'm comfortable leaving the implementation details up to the folks who are more apt to be leading the charge on him.

The 3+ space movement rules? Those are in a thread in the OS. They never got finalized/rolled-out.

I guess my one question about those is that like... if we went two-space Godzilla, so Godzilla isn't even using them, do they really have a reason to exist, or does going two-space Godzilla pretty much set the precedent that we're gonna avoid going there?

Just replace throwing with moving, Destructible Object with figure, and number of spaces in the table with number of spaces moved.

Quote:

When throwing a Destructible Object that occupies more than one space, all target spaces must be on the same level. No part of the Destructible Object may be farther away from its original placement than the number of spaces indicated in the table above according to the object’s corresponding size.

Tornado July 27th, 2019 10:07 AM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

Neither. Once the VDO rules are complete we are going to need those rules for 18 wheelers and what not.
I guess I am for double space for now and go with Soundwarp's shrunken idea and we can always go big later.

Yeah, that's my issue. I think it's a bridge we should cross and that will allow us greater options, so I don't like the idea of precedent that we should avoid going that far.

I think quozl has an interesting point about possibly making use of the throwing DO rules as a basis for this.

IAmBatman July 27th, 2019 10:15 AM

Re: Margloth's Ex-Hero Ramblings Thread

There will definitely be VDOs that want a footprint big enough to use movement rules beyond two spaces.

I like the idea of Godzilla making us lock those down, though, so switch me to B.

This is pretty much where I stand and why. I think this is a good place to get those rules established, and a nicely iconic figure to establish them with.

If you end up needing a tiebreaker, you can consider me more of half a vote. I donít particularly care about Godzilla, and feel that double space just makes more sense mechanically.
