Pathfinder Heroes...WOW factor HIGH!!!

Let me say, I don't get excited often about new product but now that I'm looking at these in hand WOW....simply put, these 4 figures are the best prepaints I've ever seen. Even the Kyra (human female cleric) looks great and I really didn't like her "style".

The way Wizkids works is you preorder and that's pretty much it so once stores start running out of these they will disapear MUCH quicker than WotC lines where you can keep ordering more over time. When preordering these I took a chance and went pretty deep so I have a good many and my supply should last a while. I'm SOOOOO glad I did as I know these will become staples in any collection and once people see them on shelves they will move fast.

To all the Scapers out there.....I have plenty, prolly more than any other single seller so I should be good for a while BUT, I won't be able to reorder so I'd not wait too long.

Congrats Wizkids, you set a new bar on quality as far as I'm concerned and if the upcomming Monsters and Heroes set is close to this quality I wish i'd ordered more than I did!!!!

Awesome. That's good news...since each of the 4 figures in the starter pack has a C3V unit in the works.

One pack = C3V Hero Booster :)

I ordered from a competitor (you can figure it out if you look at my recent posts) because I got with some other planned C3V minis. I look forward to them and I bet you will sell out of them once the C3V wave releases, or earlier if pathfinder does well.

Re: Pathfinder Heroes...WOW factor HIGH!!!

I have to second this. I played a Pathfinder demo game with a couple of high up reps of Pazio a few weeks ago using these figures. They are simply world class looking. They are using a new 3d printing process on the figures and therefore all of the little designs on the clothing is spot on.

You guys will laugh but the wizard figure bears a striking resemblance to Sean Connery. I played the wizard figure in the demo and could not help slurring all of my "s"es when I spoke!

Strangely I have yet to carry any Wiz Kids products in my store at all. Not that I have anything against Wiz Kids, I just haven't carried them. There is a pretty good used book store in town that does carry a lot of Wiz Kids products (but not other games) so that might be part of the reason though. I'm also not big on pre-ordering stuff if I'm not sure what I will be getting.

Anyone know if those bases will work with the ladders as is? Would be really sweet if they didn't need to be rebased to use the ladders.

Grishnakh November 10th, 2011 05:45 PM

Re: Pathfinder Heroes...WOW factor HIGH!!!

I did not try to fit them to a ladder but I did have them in hand and from what I recall the bases were basically the same size as D&D miniatures. They do fit a 1" square grid since that's what we played on. So, my guess is that they will fit on a ladder with no problem.

Sorry if this is a silly question.

The next set that comes out will be random. When you say "ordered a case" you mean a full box of boosters in the hope of getting a full set? If so how much do these run?

Also what do you mean case with the dragon? Is that a exclusive/ more expensive set? Or just part of the case just really rare?

From what I understand they are the exact same size as D&D minis bases or the D2/D3 bases. Since the game uses 1" squares as D&D 3.5 did it makes sense.

Just called my brother. He said they would be sold as booster, large creature boosters, bricks that would have both and cases that would give you a + 95ish % chance of getting a full set.

Case would be in the 270 ish range?? He was in the movies so not sure if I understood all he said correctly.

Basically right.

Small/medium booster will have 1 medium fig or 2 small figs for $3.99
Large booster will have 1 large fig for $5.99
Brick will have 3 large and 16 small/medium boosters for $74.99
Case will have 4 bricks for $274.99

If you preordered a case before Oct 1 or get the Pathfinder Minis subscription then you can buy the huge black dragon for $14.99 (subscription people get 75% off the price of the dragon).

Thanks for the info!

Miniature market says case plus dragon $215 , and I think some one posted Auggies full set plus dragon $200 I think.

Is this thw same thing or In the case you might get all figures and in Auggies you get a full set?
Does that mean less overall minis but a complete set?

According to Mini Mart:

Quote:

Each factory-sealed Heroes & Monsters Case contains 4 Bricks (64 Standard Boosters and 12 Large Boosters)
Also includes the mighty Black Dragon figure, which towers over the others and sits on a 3-inch base!

The Set at Auggies is each of the 40 sculpts and the Dragon. Andrew said he will break down boosters and form a set of each of the 40 figures to sell at $199...at least that is what I understand from reading his website.

Rocktroll November 11th, 2011 12:17 AM

Re: Pathfinder Heroes...WOW factor HIGH!!!

From the piazo site

Heroes & Monsters Standard Boosters contain 1 Medium or 2 Small miniatures.
Heroes & Monsters Large Boosters contain 1 Large miniature.
Heroes & Monsters Bricks contain 16 Standard Boosters and 3 Large Boosters.
Heroes & Monsters Cases contain 4 Bricks (64 Standard Boosters and 12 Large Boosters).

So that means at $270 you get from 64-128 small minis and 12 large. And should get a full set.
Or buy 40 minis and dragon from Auggies for $200

Guess depends what your looking for, bulk or full set.

The 40 or so you don't get in your example above will all be commons (or possibly some uncommons) which I expect to be priced at .50 - $1.50 (likely on the higher end of that range) so that's pretty close in price to buying a case. Also according to the (limited) info out, Wizkids said you should ALMOST get a few set and there will be some dups per case. If you have a good trading comunity then case may be the way to go, but if your short 3-5 of the rares those are gonna be expensive to track down and prolly wind up costing you more than if you just bought a set and filled in any bulk you wanted.

Bottom line though is things are still up in the air at this point and it's really hard to say how pricing will shake out in the end. If this were the normal WotC releases I'd be a lot more comfortable cutting my margin some.

My local game store got these in today. These photos should answer everyone's questions.

The figures are a little bit thinner than the regular, bulky 'Scape figures. They are the same height as the average human figure. The bases are pretty much the same size as D&D figs.

Here's another gallery that's better updated (rarities & today's previews: Manticore, Minotaur, Ogre).

Last I heard, there were supposed to be 13 Common, 10 Uncommon. I don't know if that's the final rarity distribution. He's got the Ranger & Dwarf assigned to Common, the Dwarf was Uncommon.

There will be eight Large figures, with one unrevealed; all are Rare.
Also, six Small figures, four of which are common Goblins.

You know, I look those figures over and most of them leave me kinda going eh. And some of them are down right goofy looking, like the Dwarf Fighter. The ones I like are:

Frost Giant
Half-Orc Barbarian
Human Ranger
Lich
Seelah, Iconic Paladin

The rest I could do without.

No, other than general RPG use (specifically Pathfinder) there is no skirmish game or mini game.

Giant Spider (Fyorlag size), Skeleton & Giant Caveweaver Spider (bite off a Medium figure's head size) revealed in the Paizo blog today (11/18 ).

That leaves the Wolf, Gargoyle, last two Goblins and the final mystery figure (next week?) to be revealed.

I'm not so sure about that as they are tight with WotC. I certainly hope so but I'm not sure what that would do with their relationship with WotC.

8.99 at Troll and Toad for the basic pack of Pathfinder heroes.

They are NOT tight with WotC. They are competitors. WotC has D&D, Pathfinder is the Anti-D&D for people who are sick of constant changes to the game.
