Character Bio - The Gorgon's real name is Tomi Shishido. He is a member of the Hand and HYDRA and a powerful mutant, leading the extremist mutant society Dawn of the White Light. As a child, he possessed near superhuman levels of intelligence. He said his first words at two weeks of age, could walk at three months, and was able to read and write by his first birthday. He became an accomplished painter by age four, among the top artists in all of Japan; and composed an opera at age six. This is also the age when he attempted a second suicide.

At age 13, he formulated a mathematical formula that proves, without question, the existence of God and manifested the mutant ability to turn people to stone just by looking at them. The media dubbed him "The Gorgon", after the Gorgon of Greek mythology. Shortly after, he became the leader of a mutant death-cult called the Dawn of the White Light, which committed terrorist attacks throughout Japan. By age 18, he sought out the Hand. Before leaving his home he killed his entire family and his only friend to prove that he was ruthless enough to join the terrorist organization.

After finding the Hand sanctuary and slaying all of its guards while blindfolded, the Gorgon went inside and pledged his allegiance to the Hand's Jonin. When the master questioned his dedication, the Gorgon impaled himself with his own sword, fatally injuring himself, and told the master to resurrect him. The Jonin were impressed and brought him into the fold

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design

NAME = GORGON
SECRET IDENTITY = TOMI SHISHIDO

SPECIES = MUTANT
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = TERRORIST
PERSONALITY = FEARLESS

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 6

LIFE = 6

MOVE = 6
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 6
DEFENSE = 6

POINTS = 300

GODKILLER SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1. Attack 2 + Special.
Roll 2 + X dice for this special attack. X is equal to the Life number on the defending figure's Army Card to a maximum of 8 additional dice. This special attack may only be used once per round.

STONE GAZE
Instead of attacking with Gorgon, choose 3 spaces in a straight line from Gorgon. All figures other than destructible objects on or within 1 space of those 3 spaces that are within clear sight of Gorgon are affected by Stone Gaze. One at a time, roll the 20-sided die for each affected figure. If the figure is a Squad figure and you roll 8 or higher, or a Hero figure and you roll 20 or higher, it is destroyed.

PRECOGNITIVE STRIKE 12
When an opponent's figure without the Mental Shield special power targets Gorgon for an adjacent attack, you may roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 12 or higher, the opponent's figure receives 1 wound and its turn immediately ends.

SUPER STRENGTH

I really like Godkiller SA, and Precognitive Strike is fine, but for Stone Gaze, I'd really like to see a power we could put on the other Gorgon and Medusa as well that riffs off the Frost Giant and involves a rock DO that you can turn figures into. The rock DO could have one power (rock wall defense) and use the smallest of the stalagmites from the DnD set.

I love this design, and I think it is ready for playtesting already. I am waiting patiently, but I like this design a lot. Precognitive Strike is something I suggested to you I believe yes?

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design

Use of the Rock is a cool idea Bats, but in that case, we may want to limit it to small or medium figures only. Also, I don't think there is any surviving his Stone Glare. So this would just be a placement of the rock and a death.

I think I prefer just a straight up death.

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design

Yeah, I think you're right. I think there will be better, future places to use a rock DO than on this card. After all, unlike with the Frost Giant, they're not just being given a rock coating, they've being turned into 100% stone. Good call. Please ignore my comment. :-)

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design

I think a Medusa design for a WW villain would be awesome.

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design

I've heard of the Inhuman Medusa, but didn't know that Medusa was ever created as a villain for WW.

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design

Medusa is a Greek legend and villain. WW has fought her before, but it is not typical or a reoccurring character even.

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design

Yeah, not really someone I'd be interested in unless Clix gave us a mini for her or something. Not real high priority anyway. So many other stone gazers and WW villains that are higher on my list.

Enchantress from DC or Marvel maybe. :reapershrug:

Re: The Book of Gorgon - Design

Nah, I was thinking I could use the rock DOs with Geo-Force or Terra. I don't think it's necessary to use them like we are with the Frost Giants.
