Simplest units?

I'm about to introduce a friend to Heroscape, and I want him to have a simple army. Units with simple powers like Syvarris.

What would be some good units to have him start out with?

Here's some...

Krav Maga Agents - Stealth Dodge
Omnicron Snipers - Deadly Shot
Guilty McCreech - Double Attack
Einar Imperium - Double Attack
Sentinels of Jandar - Shields of Valor
Warriors of Ashra - Defensive Agility
Zettian Guards - Zettian Targeting
Venoc Vipers - Frenzy
Aubrien Archers - Frenzy
Crixus - One Shield Defense
Minions of Utgar - Deadly Strike, Utgar's Order
Blade Gruts and Knights of Weston - simple bondings

Marro Stingers, Aubrien Archers, and Warriors of Ashra, and Zombies are great to teach people common squads.

The Deathwalkers, although not the best, are good heroes to learn with.

The Vikings heroes are great to learn about synergy.

If someone can handle bonding, knights with viking champions and grut/heavy orcs with *ak champions are fine (just don't use flagbearers), or Death Chasers of Thesk with some ogres.

A good matchup is one of the melee bonding squads + heroes vs. mostly ranged army of either common squads or unique heroes & squads.

Because Grapple Gun 25 will almost never come into play, Older Drake is a nice simple unit with Thorian Speed.

Deathstalkers are also fairly easy as Maul has limited use.

Charos is easy, and fun. He can fly around, has high defense, attack, and life, an is good against Melee.

Charos and Phantom Knights are very simple. Counterstrike and hard to kill for Charos. New players LOVE figures that can't be killed easily. Phantom Knights make sure they don't get killed by range. Or give them Stingers or elementals. They also LIKE (not as much as hard to kill figures) figures who can be reborned.

Most stuff from Rise of the Valkyrie is pretty simple, except the AE.

Definitely. Not a flashy character, just a solid one who does his part and doesn't rely on any specials. Anyone can understand flying and he relies on base stats to do his work, which is great for new players. And who doesn't love a huge dragon that can fly around with 9 life?

I've found an army of Taelord & Omnicron Snipersx3 is a pretty simple army for new players to understand. Plus, this army has the tendency to take out whatever its shooting at quickly, which new players also like. ;)

The answer is always Charos.

My two favorites would most likely be Charos for counter-attack and Roman Legionnaires for shield wall.
