PASS THROUGH STONE
After moving Nahiri for the first time each turn, you may move her to a space of equal terrain elevation within 4 spaces of her. If you do, you may roll the 20-sided die:

1: Deal 1 damage to Nahiri
2-15: Nothing happens
16-20: Deal 1 damage to all adjacent creatures.

Can you choose to move Nahiri "0" spaces by picking the space that she is already on for Pass through Stone?

She was surrounded in a game last night and I wondered if I could stay on the same hex to roll the d20 in hopes of wounding the mob of squad figures surrounding her.

I dont think you can do that. Usually when you have the option to choose '0' they write as "up to".

I could see that one going either way. In Heroscape, a no move is still considered a move.
Hard to say with AotP, I would slightly lean towards that you must move to get the d20 roll.

Re: The Book of Nahiri, Fury in Stone

I found some Bio information on the Planeswalkers. Here is Nahiri's:

http://magic.wizards.com/en/story/pl...ri-lithomancer

The kor Planeswalker Nahiri was a master of the stoneforge technique, using magic to coax exquisitely crafted weapons and tools fully formed from ordinary rock. After her ascension to Planeswalker status, many knew her simply as "the Lithomancer." Along with two other Planeswalkers—the vampire Sorin Markov and the spirit dragon Ugin—she trapped the monstrous, world-devouring Eldrazi on her home world of Zendikar. With her power over stone, she created the extensive network of floating stone hedrons on the plane—a vital component in the effort to contain the Eldrazi threat. For centuries, Nahiri served as Zendikar's guardian, ensuring that the Eldrazi remained in confinement and swiftly addressing any other threats that arose.

Really liking the idea of a spirit dragon Planeswalker. :)

Cool stuff, thanks for sharing that.

This is how I interpret it as well. It came up yesterday in a (casual) tourney game with @dok .

The other question was whether you roll for leaving engagement attacks. If it were a Heroscape card it would be spelled out either way.

You do. This came up with a couple Blue spell cards that allow for the same type of 'move'. One says 'no swipe'.

Also of note is no 'clear sight' lingo so you can move through a ruin/wall.

Project Self and Essence Flux are the cards. EF is no LEAs.

That's what I argued. Treat the card as if the text it is explicit about is the only exception to the normal rules.

since she can move through stone, can she move through water with that abbility? can she use the 4 space move to pass over a 2 space water spot?

Yeah, this figure has all kind of wording issues. I think it would have been better worded as "place" instead of "move", as otherwise if you had to move to the space along the way you would have to consider things like leaving engagement from figure between where you are and where you want to go, height when climbing a large hill, weird space or any heroscape terrain rules, stopping on glyphs, in addition to stopping on water. Basically I think this is how the power should be worded (please make other suggestions).

Quote:

PASS THROUGH STONE
After Nahiri's movement phase each turn, you may place her on a space of equal terrain elevation within 4 spaces of her. When Nahiri starts PASS THROUGH STONE, if she is engaged she will take any leaving engagement attacks. If you placed her on space different then where you ended your normal move, you may roll the 20-sided die:

1: Deal 1 damage to Nahiri
2-15: Nothing happens
16-20: Deal 1 damage to all adjacent creatures.
