Re: Deathlok - Design Phase

NAME = DEATHLOK
SECRET IDENTITY = MICHAEL COLLINS

SPECIES = CYBORG
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = ENGINEER
PERSONALITY = ANALYTICAL

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 5

MOVE = 6
RANGE = 5
ATTACK = 5
DEFENSE = 6

POINTS = 255

PLASMA BURSTS SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 5. Attack 4 + Special.
If Deathlok is not engaged, he may attack up to four times with this special attack, rolling one fewer attack die for each subsequent attack. He cannot attack the same figure more than once this turn.

NANO-HACKING 7
After revealing an Order Marker on this card and attacking with Deathlok, you may choose an opponent's Android or Cyborg figure within 5 clear sight spaces of Deathlok and roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 7 or higher, take temporary control of the chosen figure and take an immediate turn with the figure. At the end of this turn, control of the figure returns to the player who controlled the figure before the Nano-Hacking. All Order Markers that were on the chosen figure’s card will stay on the card.

CYBERNETIC REPAIR X
At the end of the round, if you reveal an "X" Order Marker on this card, remove one Wound Marker from each Army Card you control with the Cybernetic Repair X special power.

SEEKING MY HUMANITY
At the end of the round, if Deathlok destroyed one or more Human figures this round, roll one unblockable attack die against Deathlok.

SUPER STRENGTH

FLYING

Looks solid! My only complaint is that the first special power name feels really generic .... any possibility of something with more pizazz?

Energy Blasts/Waves/Balls SA?

Similar to Iron Man

To be fair I've only read one comic with this guy, but he didn't really strike me as a "Soldier." He was more of a reluctant "I am going to hunt down those that have wronged me but I'm not sure if that's a good thing" sort of guy...

...but now that I read up that's a different Deathlok! Who knew there were three of these guys?

Anyways, reading up I don't see anything about Flight or any sort of "nano-hacking" ability. Though Michael Collins (the one I know, not this guy) does have advanced computer-hacking skills so I would switch this guy's Secret Identity to that and roll with it.

Either way I'd like to his his points go down a bit, closer to the mid-high 200s. Dropping Flying might help there.

Don't know this guy, but the mechanics look solid :up:.

Hmm ... not really feeling anything yet. Maybe someone who knows the character better than I do can help here?

I've never read anything with this guy in it, so I don't know him other than Marvel Comic Database. Looks solid mechanically.

One thing that I did notice is that the name is Michael Collins for the Deathlok character in Earth 616, which is mainstream with the other Marvel heroes. The Luthor Manning version is from Earth 7484, which I know nothing about.

The Michael Collins version of Deathlok seems to be the one that can interface with computers, so he'd be the one to have the Nano-Hacking 7 power.

Re: Deathlok - Design Phase

Easy fix.

That version does have the parts for flight, so we'd have to leave that on there.

Re: Deathlok - Design Phase

There was also a negative power that I was kicking around because the descriptions I've read include the human part exerting its will over the programming.

HUMANITY
If Deathlok destroys a Human figure, he receives one wound.

Collins is initially identified in the Deathlok bio as a pacifist. I'd be fine with that. In that incarnation though, his Deathlok body has jet boots for propulsion. I'm lousy at initial costs and am usually too high, so he probably will end up in the 200s.

Re: Deathlok - Design Phase

Well, he's fairly stout, fairly mobile, has an OK attack against heroes, and a good option against squads and crowds, and a healing ability and bonding/mind control ability. I'd start him at 270+.

Obviously, if powers are changed out, all of this changes as well.
