ENCHANT
Unique Spell
20 points
At the start of any round, before rolling for initiative, this figure may cast this spell and choose a Unique Hero within 4 clear sight spaces. Until the end of the round, whenever any figure within 4 clear sight spaces of the Enchanted figure chooses the Enchanted figure for a special power and rolls the 20-sided die to take temporary control of that figure, add 4 to the roll.

While testing this spell with Enchantress is certainly a good idea, I don't think it is completely necessary to finalize a price here. Doom II can cast this spell and use mind control so with a roll of 15+ as well so he is a great substitution for that aspect of the spell. As far as mind control powers go, their are better options without MD. First one that comes to mind is Puppet Master, team him up with an MD figure and that could be the points driver here.

Re: The Spellbook of Enchant

Voodoo can also use it. I agree Puppet Master is the obvious non-MD figure to try since he gets two string pull attempts each turn.

Tough to price this one. At the far extreme, if you throw 3 OMs in a round on Puppet master and try to hit the Enchanted hero every time, that's a total of 1.2 additional turns, on average, that you get from Enchant. If those additional turns are on a big hitting hero, that's pretty awesome. But that's obviously an extreme case; most of the time we're talking about half of that effect or less.

15 strikes me as maybe a bit low but I can't really say with any confidence.

Alright, lets start the testing at 20 then and go from there. I'll update the SP.

Doom's d20s rolls can only be modified by Demons, so he actually can't normally benefit when he casts it himself. He could have Daimon/N'Astirh or someone Demon-ized by N'Astirh (that someone possibly being himself) cast it, though.

Kind of cool that that quick fix for Batman that just had the Demon mention so that it felt thematically justified will actually result in some potentially cool synergy. :)

Yeah, at the time it was more of a necessary mechanical fix, but as soon as N'astirh came along, some interesting possibilities opened up. There's some fun interplay between Demons and MD figures and Hell Lords coming up in the magic release for sure.

@Yodaking

You still need someone to run the initial here? It already passed to initial testing, correct? Because I could knock out a few games tonight

Re: The Spellbook of Enchant

Yeah, it passed to initial testing but no tests have been run yet. If you can knock some out I'd be appreciative.

Alright, I'll run some tonight, then. I don't think the ongoing discussion in the Spell Rules thread should really have any impact on the best uses for this one.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Went small here to focus in on the take-control types. Believe my luck was above average, and it felt useful but not ridiculous. High value delivered in game three, but I was having pretty crazy luck in that one overall.

Re: The Spellbook of Enchant

Thanks! A couple of close games that split one loss and one win, then a blow out that was heavily luck aided. Looks like the spell made a difference on one d20 roll result once in each game and a total of 3 out of 10 attempts. How do you feel about moving forward with a cost of 20 here Ronin?
