NAME = DRAX
SECRET IDENTITY = ARTHUR DOUGLAS

SPECIES = GOLEM
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = WARRIOR
PERSONALITY = RELENTLESS

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 6

MOVE = 6
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 5
DEFENSE = 6

POINTS = 350

BATTLE READY
During an enemy figure's turn, if that figure ends its movement within 3 spaces of Drax, you may immediately move Drax up to 2 spaces if he ends this movement engaged with that figure. While Drax is engaged with only one figure, add 1 die to his attack and defense.

WARRIOR ENGAGEMENT
If Drax rolls a skull against a figure leaving an engagement with him, that figure may not leave the engagement with Drax this turn.

"THE DESTROYER"
Drax may attack the same figure up to 3 times if he did not move this turn.

@dok @Soundwarp SG-1 @Dysole @weebaer

Thoughts on point value estimate? Competitive concerns?

I'd like to let him go up to 4 attacks, one per wound on him, but I want to make sure 330 is doable.

If we were to remove something, dropping the movement from the other figure's turn is probably my first go to.

So we dropped the "Clobbering Time" connection and made it based on wounds on Drax himself? This seems a lot stronger. As does the movement between attacks. I think he's going to grade out pretty strong in this form.

What would you suggest?

Yeah, toying with the points calculator, I'd say 330 is the absolute floor for what he could come in at, and you could see upwards of 360 with where he's at currently.

There are just a lot of good things going on. Multiple attacks, ways to move all the time, auto wounds for failed attackers, etc. And basically an auto-resurrection power.

I think you could cut the Relentless Engagement power completely and he'd still be worth 330.

Re: The Book of Drax (II) (Breathing)

We could probably just ditch the range if he's that good, right?

BLADED FURY
When Drax attacks an adjacent figure with his normal attack, he may attack 1 additional time for each Wound Marker on this card, to a total of 3 attacks in a single turn. After Drax destroys a figure, you may move him up to 2 spaces.

RELENTLESS ENGAGEMENT
During an enemy figure's turn, if that figure ends its movement within 4 spaces of Drax, you may immediately move Drax up to 3 spaces if he ends this movement engaged with that figure. If a figure rolls for an adjacent normal attack or a leaving engagement attack against Drax and does not roll any skulls, the figure receives 1 wound.

NOT DEAD YET
Whenever Drax would be destroyed or receives enough wounds to be destroyed in any way, he instead takes no damage and removes all but 2 wounds from this card. Not Dead Yet can only be used once per game

Might account for 20 points or so to do that. It's probably not enough range to make you want him over a 7 range figure with Star-Lord anyway.

Re: The Book of Drax (II) (Breathing)

What's better though, 3 adjacent attacks of 6, or 2 attacks of 6 from range? I'm open to suggestions but we seem to be getting pulled in different directions here.

Re: The Book of Drax (II) (Breathing)

If my read of the card was correct, he could only ever get a single ranged attack. While I don't want to minimize the situational value that ranged attack could have, it wasn't one of the main drivers of his price.

My point from before was that when his multiple attacks came from wounds on other figures (a-la Clobbering time), it was something opponents could try to play around. You have the option to focus on Drax. Drax is very hard to kill so this is kind of what the Drax player wants you to do, but it turns Drax into the wild and crazy focal point he should be.

With the current version, opponents kind of want to avoid wounding Drax (which feels a bit strange) unless they can focus and kill him very fast. Even then, Not Dead Yet more or less guarantees that you're going to face 3 attacks of 6 at some point, which is pretty tough. Basically he becomes a slightly more scary version of Wolverine - same muti-attack trigger, similar healing, a bit more base stats on both attack and defense, and critically, the ability to move between hits like speedball.

My personal preference is to go back to the Ragtag Clobbering Time wording that was bounced around in the thread ("Before attacking with Drax, you may choose one other Unique Hero you control within 4 clear sight spaces of Drax [who does not share a species or class with any other figures in your army]. After Drax attacks, he may attack one additional time for every 2 Wound Markers on the chosen figure's Army Card. Drax cannot attack more than three times in a single turn."). It's your design so I'm not trying to force that on you. I'm just saying that basing it on his wounds instead is a very big change.

I also think the ability to move between attacks seems excessive (it's something we usually associate with far more mobile figures than Drax).

Re: The Book of Drax (II) (Breathing)

The problem I see with that is exactly what you said. The opponent can just get around it by focusing primarily on Drax. Unlike Thing inside the Fantastic Four, you aren't getting 2 attacks of 10, and the major difference is you're not getting thing with 10 defense and a decent adjacent defensive special. So I wonder how much use you'd really get out of Drax if you need to get into your opponent's face with him, and he needs his allies to have 4 wounds to make him anything special.

Thing also goes off of each wound, so it scales much better, whereas Drax would need his allies to literally be on the verge of death before it even matters. By that time, they would have likely already killed Drax. At that point, why wouldn't you just draft someone like Cable instead?
