Character Bio - Once the side kick, Robin, Jason Todd was brutally beaten with a crowbar by the Joker and left to die in a warehouse rigged with explosives.

Years later Jason returns from the grave taking the Joker's original persona as the Red Hood. Under his new mantle, Jason confronts all those he feels have wronged him. He beats the Joker with a crowbar and later kidnaps him. He assumes control over various gangs in Gotham City and starts a one-man war against Black Mask's criminal empire. He actively tries to cleanse the city of corruption, such as the illegal drug trade and gang violence, but in a violent, antiheroic way. Employing lethal methods rejected by the Batman, he eventually comes to blows against Batman and other heroe allies, including the new Robin, Onyx and Green Arrow.

Todd swore that he would become the hero that the Dark Knight refused to be as the merciless vigilante called the Red Hood.

-Rulings and Clarifications-
  • Q: Acrobatic Leap says I must subtract 2 from Red Hood's movement, but what if he doesn't have 2 move remaining? Can I still use Acrobatic Leap after using Red Hood's full movement?
    A: No. In C3G, you can't subtract what's not there. To use Acrobatic Leap, you must subtract 2 move; and to subtract 2 move, Red Hood must have at least 2 move remaining.

Re: The Book of Red Hood - Design Phase

NAME = RED HOOD
SECRET IDENTITY = JASON TODD

SPECIES = HUMAN
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = OUTLAW
PERSONALITY = VENGEFUL

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 4

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 5
ATTACK = 4
DEFENSE = 5

POINTS = 180

BLAZING GUNS SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 4. Attack 3.
After attacking with this special attack, if you did not roll 2 or more blanks, you may attack again. You may continue attacking until you roll 2 or more blanks in a single attack, to a maximum of 4 attacks per turn.

EVADE AND COUNTER
When rolling defense dice against an opponent's figure within 5 clear sight spaces, if you roll at least as many shields as the attacker rolls skulls, Red Hood may immediately move up to 2 spaces using his Acrobatic Leap special power and if the attack was a normal attack, the attacking figure receives one wound.

ACROBATIC LEAP 6
Red Hood may use his Acrobatic Leap at any point before or during his normal move. Each time you Leap, you must first subtract 2 from Red Hood's movement. His Leap has a move of 2. While leaping, Red Hood has the Flying special power, but may not move up or down more than 6 levels in a single leap, and will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

I wasn't sure if we wanted to use an outlaw synergy here.

Excited for this guy!

I think either of the other minis are better choices. One's just cheaper, and the other is expensive, but it looks much better.

I've only really ever seen him use pistols, so I'm not sure the Machine Gun is overly thematic, but my exposure to him is limited.

That counter is crazy awesome, and will devastate squads! Pretty cool.

I'd rather him not be a vigilante, since he's so far outside of Batman's circle now, but can't think of anything better, (Other than Outlaw, which would be perfect, if we're fine with Secret Six synergies, which I'm not sure about)

Re: The Book of Red Hood - Design Phase

Yeah, I also prefer he not be a Vigilante, and I'm totally OK with Outlaw also.

I like what you have in general. I'd really like to see Evasive Counter restricted to normal attacks, though, just because I think it'll get way too wonky mechanically to include special attacks when you're measuring skulls vs. shields, etc.

Great start! :up:

Does he usually grapple? I don't think I've ever seen him grappling...

Machine Gun wouldn't be my first choice but because the mini is using one, I don't mind. Is that a machine gun, though, or a sub-machine gun?

Re: The Book of Red Hood - Design Phase

As far as Vigilante is concerned, I know what you are saying but he is so much more the definition of a vigilante than Batman is & it's like Venom being called a vigilante. Having said that I think Outlaw fits also as in the group but also in his actions, so I am fine with that also.

I get what you are saying about the EC so what about I change it to this:

Quote:

EVADE AND COUNTER
When rolling defense dice against an opponent's figure within 5 clear sight spaces, if you roll the same number or more shields as the attacker rolls skulls, Red Hood may immediately move using his Bat-Grapple 3 Special Power and if the attack was a normal attack, the attacking figure receives one wound.

Re: The Book of Red Hood - Design Phase

Did you mean was not a special attack?

A3n June 24th, 2013 12:20 AM

Re: The Book of Red Hood - Design Phase

No I meant "...was a normal attack...". Fixed. :)

I meant to comment about the machine gun also. It is definitely a sub-machine gun, just didn't see a real difference between the two so I used what we already had. But I can definitely go with a different power for a sub-machine gun. Maybe something like:

Quote:

SUB-MACHINE GUN SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 4. Attack 3.
After attacking with this special attack, if you did not roll 2 or more blanks, you may attack again. You may continue attacking until you roll 2 or more blanks in a single attack. You can only attack with this special attack a maximum of 4 times.

Re: The Book of Red Hood - Design Phase

Unfortunately we've already got a Sub-Machine Gun Special Attack on the KILLER PENGUINS, which is probably not really what we want. Maybe name it "UZI SPECIAL ATTACK?" If that's an Uzi, I'm not exactly a gun nut. :lol:

Still curious about the Bat-Grapple thing, by the by.

Re: The Book of Red Hood - Design Phase

I'm not a gun nut either, I'm fine with it being called Uzi SA if that works. :shrug:

I thought he would still have it as a tie back to his Robin design. I can make a different power. Something that would be more useful in some situations but less in others:

Quote:

ACROBATIC LEAP 2
Red Hood may use his Acrobatic Leap at any point before or during his normal move. Acrobatic Leap has a move of 2. When counting spaces for Acrobatic Leap, ignore elevations. Red Hood may leap over water without stopping, leap over figures without becoming engaged, and leap over obstacles such as ruins. Red Hood may not leap more than 11 levels up or down in a single leap. When moving with Acrobatic Leap, he will not take any leaving engagement attacks. If Red Hood uses Acrobatic Leap, subtract 2 from his movement this turn.

IAmBatman June 24th, 2013 09:26 AM

Re: The Book of Red Hood - Design Phase

I'm fine either way on the movement powers. I think the theme of either would work. :shrug:

How about "UZI STRAFE SPECIAL ATTACK" for the power name? Just "UZI SA" sounds too short, IMO.
