True to character however, will need to draft her with Raelin/etc.

Ignoring fragility, how do we like the points to power ratio?

Also, I took a lot of liberty with the wording on power 1. Do we like the functional shift?

When attacking an adjacent figure with a normal attack, Nimue may have the Sword of Power enhance the attack by choosing one or both below. After the attack, the Cursed Sword of Power inflicts her with a wound for each mode chosen:
• Any or all adjacent figures are also affected by the attack. They each roll defense dice separately.
• Add 3 attack dice to the attack.

To me, it seems out of place that two of the powers direct the player while this one is directed at the figure. What about

CURSED SWORD OF POWER
When attacking an adjacent figure with a normal attack, you may choose either of both of the following:
• Any or all adjacent figures are also affected by the attack. Each figure rolls defense dice separately.
• Add 3 dice to the attack.
After the attack, Nimue receives a wound for each option chosen.

And it saves some words.

Doesnt seem to crazy. The language seems direct, but I'm still learning scape legalism lol. I do appreciate the space that it saves.

English preferences.

Both 'more' and 'all' imply more than two options; whereas 'both' clearly indicates there are exactly two. (See what I did there? :D )

Then I'm good. I'm heading out for a week. Would somebody write out what we currently have. Get some playtests . Perhaps even a vote, we do want to get those Points confirmed however.

Yes, on mock cards assume graphics will improve but stamp down wording errors. Before final card voting is space fixing, image rigging.

Expect to test tomorrow afternoon. I'll post Steam link before I do.

Call Out to the Hidden isn't a special attack.

After testing, 120 Points feels right. She's a glass cannon but a cannon

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

I withdraw my thumb

Should we make range 2 instead of 1 that way if she's adjacent to tree she'll always be able to hit melee?

Other thought, should we allow adjacent to tree and her? That way even on treeless maps she has value

Dysole June 19th, 2021 03:11 PM

So Lost

Not following how that applies to the cards. Which version is current?

~Dysole, perfectly fine if she's less useful on maps without a lot of trees; that makes sense

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Current Version
CURSED SWORD OF POWER
When Nimue attacks an adjacent figure with a normal attack, you may choose either or both of the following:
• Any or all adjacent figures are also
affected by the attack. They each roll
defense dice separately.
• Add 3 attack dice to the attack.
After the attack, Nimue receives a wound for each option chosen.

CALL OUT TO THE HIDDEN
Instead of attacking, choose any or all Evergreen Trees and Jungle Pieces within 4 spaces of Nimue. For each, choose an opponent's figure within 1 space of that object whose base is no more than 5 levels above or below that object's base. One at a time, roll the 20-sided die. On a roll of 14 or higher, inflict 2 wounds to the figure.

WATER TUNNEL
If Nimue ends her normal movement on a water space, you may immediately place her on an empty, same-level water space within 5 spaces. If Nimue is engaged when she starts her Water TunneI, she will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

::

CALL OUT TO THE HIDDEN (2 Spaces instead of 1)
Instead of attacking, choose any or all Evergreen Trees and Jungle Pieces within 4 spaces of Nimue. For each, choose an opponent's figure within 2 spaces of that object whose base is no more than 5 levels above or below that object's base. One at a time, roll the 20-sided die. On a roll of 14 or higher, inflict 2 wounds to the figure.

CALL OUT TO THE HIDDEN (Also Nimue)
Instead of attacking, choose Nimue and any or all Evergreen Trees and Jungle Pieces within 4 spaces of her. For each, choose an opponent's figure within 1 space of that figure or object whose base is no more than 5 levels above or below that figure's or object's base. One at a time, roll the 20-sided die. On a roll of 14 or higher, inflict 2 wounds to the figure.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

I feel like changing it to 2 range instead of 1 makes it really hard to play around on some maps.

Dysole June 20th, 2021 08:37 PM

Too Strong

Up to 2 spaces is SUPER good. I don't even follow a theme reason for Nimue to choose herself. I'm fine with her being less good on a treeless map.

~Dysole, noting this would hardly be the first figure that takes a hit when the map is not favorable

Taeblewalker June 20th, 2021 08:41 PM

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

I like the range 2 version without choosing her. I still worry that she has low Life; Valguard makes up for his need to disengage to get first strike on a different figure by having 7 Life and surviving LEA.

Confred June 20th, 2021 09:19 PM

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

2 range version came from the notion of her back up against a tree and not being able to use it

But with that said. my handful of games played fine with her as is.

Thoughts?

Taeblewalker June 20th, 2021 09:21 PM

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

If you think she plays fine then I withdraw my objection to the low Life. Reluctantly.

Her low life adds tension to play that I feel is value. She's in that sweet spot of whiffs being "well damn" and still feeling like a power threat

I'm ok with power only having range 1 instead of 2

She might be able to go lower in Points, to 110. But I err on side of expensive.
