What Goes Into Playtesting?

I couldn't find a thread specifically about this, though it seems like the topic has been touched on briefly before.

Since we have some official Heroscape playtesters hanging out around here, I was wondering if we could could get more details as to what goes into playtesting. How many hours do you playtest each unit? Are there particular armies you always pit new units against? Is there a standard set of scenarios you run them through? What point-range of armies do you typically work within? Do you draft mostly, or use pre-made armies? Or is it all a lot more free-wheeling than that-- like the typical pick-up games we all have at home?

I don't know if you're even allowed to talk about this sort of thing, but I figure since I'm not asking for information about specific units or what-not, that maybe you could give us some insight.

First, Search.

Second, Search again.

Third, a thread came up like this a while back.

Finally, they aren't allowed to talk. :(

I started a similiar thread about a month ago, and didn't get much of a response. They're pretty much completely tied up by NDAs.

Argh! I don't know how I missed that one. Interesting: If I plug "playtest" or "playtester" into search by title, your thread doesn't come up, but if I type in "playtesters", it does-- seems a bit finicky, to me...

So, okay, if no official Heroscape playtester can say anything, are there any official playtesters (past or present) for other boardgames who can give us insight into what all goes into playtesting... in a more general sense, of course.

There is your play testing quote from :gb:. :p

I think it's pretty obvious they put alot of time into each unit, but I did read somewhere else that there were units created after the Capuan Gladiators that were released before them.

Other than that I don't think you'll get anything.

Play, report, discuss, adjust, repeat
