I think just a driver space would be sufficient.

I'm not saying I do. I'm saying I don't know if 8 spaces will FIT on the card.

Finally parsing through the responses here.

Let's leave that for later and maybe have a small supplemental rulebook for Huge VDOs when we get there.

I've been convinced that we can cut the stuff specific to huge VDOs and leave those for the exceptions to spell out. Like Galactus does with figure movement, for instance. We'll get the basics down here and cross the huge bridge/starship/tank/mole machine when we get to it.

Good call, guys.

A figure occupying a VDO may move to an empty seat in the same VDO as a free action anytime on that figure's turn.

I don't like introducing the concept of a free action to the rules set. I'd rather just make you spend a movement action to switch seats. It's pretty rare so far that one figure is killed from outside the VDO while another is still in it, so I don't mind that inefficiency being introduced.

Moving Vehicles: I'd like to change this for clarity, as you'd never make leaving engagement attacks while moving. Additionally, figures in the VDO shouldn't ever be engaged to figures outside the VDO, so there's no need for that last part, right?

Old version:
Quote:

When moving the VDO, follow standard movement rules, with one exception: VDOs and occupying figures do not make or receive leaving engagement attacks against figures outside of the VDO.
New version:

Exiting Vehicles: There currently isn't a way for a passenger to do anything in a VDO when revealing an OM on their card. So I'd change the first paragraph like so:

Old version:
Quote:

After moving a VDO you control on your turn, before completing the rest of your turn, you may exit with any or all of your figures that occupy that VDO.
New version:
Quote:

After moving a VDO you control on your turn or instead of moving with a figure occupying a VDO, before completing the rest of your turn, you may exit with any or all of your figures that occupy that VDO.
Destroying Vehicles: There are no current VDOs where you can be on top of them, so this is also info that could be cut for clarity. These rules are hella complex already, so I'd be in favor of simply omitting that stuff entirely and limiting standing on VDOs to Huge VDOs when/if we ever get there. It's a chore for me to read these rules and I've played them, so cutting stuff where we can is a good idea.

I like all these changes and will be sure to include them in my next update. I'm hoping to find time tonight after putting Bat Kid down, before going to sleep.

I think we should keep climbing on top of VDOs. A cool way to get height and it makes being inside a VDO dangerous.

Good points, I'm good with that.

Definitely. Both tactical and beautifully cinematic. That's a win all ends up in my book! :)

My one thing is that I want to make it very explicit now that non-vehicle DOs can be draftable. That just absolutely sounds like something nice to have in the future.

That will be made explicit once we have draftable non-vehicle DOs.

So we're going to make a separate rulebook that just says "Hey, you can draft these?"

No, we'll have draftable DOs and it will be obvious you can draft them because they're draftable.

Re: The Book of Draftable Vehicle Rules - Final Editing

I'm kinda with quozl on this one. It's a lot like the Huge VDOs that would require a battlefield of their own. We can't really have rules for them until someone designs one because we won't really know what's needed in those rules.
