Character Bio - The Tick seems to have no memory of his life before being The Tick, and indeed not much memory of anything; more than likely due to frequent head injuries. A square-jawed, muscular, bright blue-costumed figure with antennae sticking up from his head, The Tick is a surrealistic parody of superheroes. He is well-intended, friendly, childlike, good-natured, high-spirited, bombastic, frequently obtuse, and prone to quipping odd, dim remarks and "inspirational" speeches filled with bizarre metaphors. The Tick is known for his nonsensical battle cry, "Spoooooon!", which he decided upon one day while eating a bowl of Drama Flakes cereal. The Tick has a sidekick, a rather plump former accountant named Arthur. (wikipedia.org)

Re: The Book of Tick

NAME = THE TICK

SPECIES = HUMANOID
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = CHAMPION
PERSONALITY = DELUSIONAL
SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 6

LIFE = 5

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 7
DEFENSE = 4

POINTS = 270

“SPOON!”
Once per game, after winning initiative, you may reveal an "X" Order Marker on this card. If you do, for rest of the round, after rolling attack dice or defense dice for The Tick, you may choose to change one blank rolled to a skull.

CLUMSY OAF
The first time during a player turn that The Tick moves normally onto or adjacent to a destructible object, roll an unblockable attack die against that destructible object. When attacking with The Tick, if one or more blanks are rolled, subtract 1 skull from that attack. When defending with The Tick, if the results include three or more skulls, choose an adjacent figure, if possible, to receive 1 wound.

NIGH-INVULNERABILITY 7
Anytime The Tick would be destroyed, roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 7 or higher, The Tick is not destroyed and, if he would have been destroyed by receiving wounds, ignore those wounds.

WEAK-MINDED 3
If any player rolls the 20-sided die to take temporary or permanent control of The Tick, that player may add 3 to the roll.

SUPER STRENGTH

Re: The Book of Tick

Should it read 'Book of Tick' or 'Book of the Tick' for this design? They include a small 'the' on the comic book cover.

The Crow so The Tick.

Re: The Book of Tick

So here are a variety of different comic art options featuring different tones depending on how you all want to handle it. Personally I really, really love the spoon one and if possible that is the one I'd go with for such a goofy character being released as part of an April Fool's booster.

For the mini background, I'm thinking a damaged building could work.

Alright, I'll update the thread title then. Also bio has been added.

Re: The Book of the Tick

Yeah I'd go with The Tick here. NEC is my local comic chain so it's cool to see them joining C3G. :p

I have very little Tick context though. Clumsy Oaf is a pretty complex power but it has a clear thematic followthrough. Is Humanoid an official term?

Re: The Book of the Tick

We don't really know what his species is or how he got his powers: thus Humanoid.

SP looks good to me.

I'd do the one with him perched on the building for the official card, but would love to see an alternative card with the spoon art.

:word: I was gonna suggest that same art and I LOVE that alternate suggestion.

While moving normally with The Tick, each time he moves onto or adjacent to a Destructible Object, roll the 20-sided die.
I know I asked the same question about a power based on this one in another thread, but is the intent that the power can trigger multiple times during his normal movement, or just once when he ends his movement? (ie can he run in a circle around the same DO and keep rolling the d20?) Apologies if this has come up already during workshopping, but y'all are hard to keep up with these days. :p

I'm not familiar with the character, but the write-up looks pretty solid. I do feel like the d20 clause in Clumsy Oaf is a little disconnected from the rest of the power, and wouldn't mind if all three effects had more similar triggers.

Re: The Book of the Tick

The intent is it triggers as he is moving along without stopping his movement. We can limit it to one roll per DO per turn though as that was also the intent. If you've ever seen the cartoon you'll understand the intent.
