I have a copy of them at home. I will post a picture later.

@Dad_Scaper - I already started this about 4 years ago, but kinda let it go by the wayside, so glad you are picking this up. See my thread:

C3V & SoV Alternate Figures

Feel free to copy that entire thread to this one and reformat as you see fit.

Excellent! I very nearly tagged you near the top of the thread, because I knew this type of thing was right up your alley.

Thank you, I'll look.

Re: Alternate Sculpts

Cool. Also, check out my Heroscape C3V & SoV spreadsheet which has all the C3V/SoV figures with links on where to buy - you may get lucky. Note that in that spreadsheet I combined the "official sculpts" and "alternate sculpts" listed on "Book of" thread as well as C3V Public Miniature Information Thread but also added figures that were "almost the same". For reference when browsing my sheet and you see multiple options, here is why:
  • Heroclix, Mage Knight, Star Wars - Multiple units are exactly the same sculpt and paint-job but have different stats on their bases (that most people throw away or paint over), so does not matter at all for Heroscape. A few of the promo figures have different paint-jobs.
  • D&D, Mechwarrior - There are multiple paintjobs, but the same sculpts.
  • Confrontation & AT-43: The figures are designed to be modular with different "units" having the same body and head, but can have different arms, weapons, and back protrusions (think of it like GI-Joes with different accessories), but is also why most people agree they are really hard to tell apart and so it doesn't matter that much. This is the case in having many options for Havech Eradicators and Gorillitroopers. FYI, the "Attachment Box" units have more/bigger guns than "Unit Box" but again same head and body.
  • Reaper - The pre-painted plastic figures are hard to find, so some Bones (unpainted plastic) and metal minis are added, but are all same sculpt.
  • Pathfinder - same as above with some unpainted units. Also some characters have been released with alternate sculpts so these are as close as you can get, like in C3G playing with one of the many versions of Batman Hero-clix figures.
I really should add some more of the "almost the same" figures to that list - if anyone notes any of these "almost the same" figures not on my spreadsheet let me know and I will add.

I will also say what others said, that for tournaments almost all TDs allow proxies, and at home games it really should not matter as you can proxy anything you have lying around. The only reason to care on having the "official sculpt" is for the super completest who wants to "have them all" and is a stickler for collectivity, not playability.

I believe it's 4 figures total. For us the it's the three Skull demons and 1 demon lord whose name escapes me at the most. 4 figures total.

I bet you it's cheaper once it hits miniature market.

Thanks @SuperSamyon for the link to Confrontation Classic BackerKit Preorders

Resin Skull Warriors are what we are interested in and we can pre-order now for €49.90 (~$54.60), respectively. They are unassembled and unpainted too - not sure if worth it versus proxying

Moloch and Ira Tenebrae or Resin Skull Warriors are what we are interested in and we can pre-order now for €24.90 (~$27.25) and €49.90 (~$54.60), respectively. They are metal but unpainted - not sure if worth it versus proxying

You're welcome! I would hold off and buy them from miniature market. They said they would order them. I think it's safer to buy from them than directly from this company... They have a dubious release schedule.

With that said, if someone can't wait please pre-order and let us know how long it takes. :-)

Wait, I thought resin was plastic? Am I just an idiot?

For unassembled, unpainted, you're better off making a scanned 3D model and 3D printing some (cost for 5 will be much cheaper, with just a little loss of quality which won't affect gameplay).

I have a medium resolution model of the Skull Demon (see below), but for a high quality model I would need to re-photograph an existing model with my new photography method. Unfortunately I don't have the Skull Demon, but do have some of the other C3V figures I can make high quality if anyone is interested as proxies.

Re: Alternate Sculpts

I'm glad to see these ideas moving and embraced by the community! I'm a big believer that we should be making every release as accessible to new players as possible. :)

@White Knight I think that would be a fantastic resource! I don't have access to a 3D Printer, but I can totally see the benefit of moving over and 3D-printing difficult sculpts when painting would already be required.

For some other alternate sculpt ideas:
Morgan's Riflemen were just released, and they're a 3-person unique squad very similar aesthetically the 4th Massachusetts. Luckily, we also have Samuel Brown as a repainted 4th Massachusetts hero--having repaints of the remaining three figures from a squad would be a nice quality of life suggestion for the Morgan's Riflemen, although they thankfully aren't rare yet.

The Dreadguls are one of my favorite squads, but they're so pricy now that I think it'd be more efficient to paint some extra Tarn Viking Warriors. They still have the viking aesthetic, and they're a lot cheaper online.

Kira Jax is almost nonexistent online, in addition to many of the other Rackham miniatures. Perhaps something from the Star Wars line could work as a proxy for her?

There are loads more, but those are the things that immediately come to mind right now.

Re: Alternate Sculpts

Yeah, this will help quell concerns about miniature availability that I have. Willing to help with alternate sculpt card creation and adjustments as well.

Re: Alternate Sculpts

Thanks, robb (and others).

I was confident there would be some interest in this thread when I posted it this morning. I was certainly not expecting it to explode to this level on the first day, and I will have to spend some time this evening sorting out the suggestions from the offers of help, and we can start to figure out who will pitch in where.

Thank you all for your contributions, for your offers of help, for your interest in this little mini-project, and for your continued interest in what we do in the C3V.
