Character Bio - Wanda Maximoff was the daughter of the mutant called Magnus and a gypsy woman named Magda. Just prior to her birth, her mother fled from her father, terrified of the bizarre powers he suddenly manifested and his intentions of world domination. Seeking refuge Magda was taken in and gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl. Still afraid that her husband might find her and learn of the children, Magda left a note explaining her fears, and walked into the frozen mountain wilderness to perish. Eventually the two children were 'gifted' to Django and Marya Maximoff, a gypsy couple camped nearby who had lost their own two children. The Maximoffs accepted the strange gifts and were told their names were Wanda and Pietro, the names their natural mother had given them at birth. The Maximoffs cared for the children as if they were their own. As adolescents, Wanda and Pietro discovered that they had peculiar talents. With a particular gesture while she was in a certain frame of mind, Wanda found that she could cause unusual phenomena to occur. One day, after being separated from the gypsy camp, Wanda accidentally caused a house to burst into flames with her uncontrollable hex powers, and was chased by superstitious townspeople. Despite Pietro's attempt to defend her, they were soon overpowered and about to become victims of mob violence when Magneto came to their rescue. Unaware that he was their natural father, Magneto pressed them into service in his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, costumed them, and named them the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. For months they served Magneto out of a sense of obligation and fear of his reprisal. When the extraterrestrial Stranger transported Magneto from Earth, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver left the Brotherhood and petitioned for membership in the Avengers. They were inducted along with Hawkeye to take the place of the charter members, who wished a leave of absence. At one point during her career as an Avenger, the Scarlet Witch underwent training in sorcery under the tutelage of a true witch named Agatha Harkness. The mental discipline of sorcery aided the Scarlet Witch's powers of concentration, enabling her to exercise much greater control over her mutant hexes than ever before. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: Scarlet Witch - Brainstorming
NAME = SCARLET WITCH
SECRET IDENTITY = WANDA MAXIMOFF SPECIES = MUTANT UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = SORCERESS PERSONALITY = UNSTABLE SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 4 MOVE = 6 RANGE = 4 ATTACK = 4 DEFENSE = 4 POINTS = 285 CHAOS MAGIC CURSE Start the game with 3 red Curse Markers on this card. After moving and before attacking, you may choose an opponent's figure within 8 clear sight spaces of Scarlet Witch. If the chosen figure is not a Unique Hero or an Event Hero, remove a Curse Marker from this card and the chosen figure receives one wound. If the chosen figure is a Unique Hero or an Event Hero, place a Curse Marker on the chosen figure's card. For the entire game, figures other than Scarlet Witch with a Curse Marker on their card must roll the 20-sided die before taking a turn. If they roll 8 or less, they may not use any special powers on their Army Card for that turn. HEX-SPHERE DISTURBANCE 5 After an opponent rolls attack dice against Scarlet Witch, you may roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 5 or higher, your opponent must re-roll all attack dice that show skulls. Hex-Sphere Disturbance can be used only once for each attack. MAGICAL DEFENSE When Scarlet Witch is attacked by an opponent's figure that does not have the Magical Defense special power, the most wounds Scarlet Witch can take for this attack is one. Re: Scarlet Witch - Brainstorming
I really like where you have started, however, the Kryptonian reference should absolutely go. We don't need YET ANOTHER Kryptonian killer, and beside, the fact that it is a special attack is all you need. That was one of the big thematic appeals to Man of Steel was that with the special attack exception, we would be able to create magical special attacks that could get past his defense. Besides, with each creation from C3G, Superman is becoming more and more of a push over, and that is not a good thing considering he costs 400 points. If we are going to have 'Kryptonian' specific abilities, it should be on characters that have common correlation with them in the comics, like Lex, Metallo, Cyborg Superman, Eradicator, etc. No DC reference on a MARVEL card please.

Oh, and the bio should be a quick snippet, not an essay. :lol:

The Kyptonian part was to represent Supes' weakness to magic... Do all Kryptonians have that weakness? |

All in all, Man of Steel being susceptible to special attacks, is all the vulnerability that is required for any Magic Special Attack, any more, and we run the risk of having some expensive Kryptonian units that are never drafted due to overwhelming counters to them. |
Re: Scarlet Witch - Brainstorming
That's not completely true from what I remember of the plot lines. Didn't go something like because humans had magic in our past we had built a background tolerance to magic, whereas there had never been such a thing or belief of on Krypton so magic had a greater effect on them. I think SuperBoy from Prime was the only "Superman" not susceptable as magic was more rampant in the Prime universe.
But as you say whilst Superman has a weakness to magic him being Superman does give him resilience to the actual effect of magic compared to somebody of equal Super Strength he would suffer greater effects, but less effects than you or I. It's not a new kryptonite. It's more of a genetic belief/disbelief. Cheers |

Re: Scarlet Witch - Brainstorming
I agree that we don't need Kryptonians being any more susceptible to Scarlet Witch's powers than anyone else. The change in Man Of Steel to allow for special attacks to have a better chance against Superman was entirely based on his "weakness" to magic. So the extra vulnerability to magic is built into Man Of Steel. This also made him vulnerable to other types of special attacks, but at the time it was the only way we could figure out a way to include his magic weakness.
Otherwise, though I'm not overly familiar with her, I like the direction she's headed. :D |
Re: Scarlet Witch - Brainstorming
I agree - the Kryptonian reference isn't needed.
I like what you have here, but am disappointed we're not putting the resistance power on here (Magical Resistance). Still, I can't see what power would be cut for that, so she might just have to be cut out from future magical synergies. |

You, sir, are a beast. :-P
By the way - I'm pro-flying symbol on her. And I like picture "B" way better than the others. |
