Character Bio - Despite her traditional Pakistani roots, Kamala Khan was the typical American teenager, wanting to both be herself and make her family proud. For several years, Kamala was a fan of superheroes, especially the Avengers and, more importantly, Carol Danvers. So much so that she started writing online fan-fiction about the Avengers and Captain Marvel, and joined the Carol Danvers Corps online.

During a high school party, Kamala decided to try fitting in with the "regular crowd," realizing that this wasn't the group for her. Kamala left the party abruptly, and on her way home was encased by the Terrigen Mists that were released during Infinity. This reveals that Kamala is a descendant of the Inhumans. Encased in a cocoon, her Inhuman powers developed, and Kamala was placed in a dream-like state. A dream avatar of Captain Marvel asked her: "Who do you want to be?" Kamala replied: "I want to be you." In saying so, she burst from the cocoon, looking exactly like Carol in her old black unitard costume. After a panic, Kamala learned she had gained shape-shifting powers, able to change her appearance or parts of her body at will. She eventually shifted back to her normal appearance and took on the identity of the all-new Ms. Marvel, intending to be a superhero like Carol. She eventually gets to work with the heroes she grew up being a fan of and becomes a superhero in her own right.

Re: The Book of Ms. Marvel (Kamala) - Design

NAME = Ms. Marvel
SECRET IDENTITY = Kamala Khan

SPECIES = Inhuman
UNIQUENESS = Unique Hero
CLASS = Crime Fighter
PERSONALITY = Enthusiastic

SIZE/HEIGHT = Medium 4

LIFE = 4

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 1
ATTACK = 3
DEFENSE = 4

POINTS = 190

BOUNDLESS ENTHUSIASM
Before taking a turn with a Unique Hero you control, if Ms. Marvel is within 5 clear sight spaces of that Hero, you may reveal an “X” Order Marker on that Hero's Army Card and choose one for the rest of the round:
• Add 1 to that Hero’s Attack and Defense numbers;
• After revealing an Order Marker on that Hero's Army Card and taking a turn with only that Hero, you may take a turn with Ms. Marvel. You may not take any additional turns with figures you control.

MORPHOGENIC MAYHEM
Before taking a turn with Ms. Marvel, choose one for this turn:
• Add 3 to her Move number, you may ignore her height when moving up or down and she does not take leaving engagement attacks;
• Add 2 to her Range number;
• Add 1 to her Attack number and, after attacking, if she did not inflict a wound, she may attack that figure one additional time.
Each option may only be chosen once per round.

EMBIGGEN!
Once per game, before rolling for initiative, you may choose to use this special power. For the remainder of the round, add 2 to Ms. Marvel's Defense number, each turn Ms. Marvel may choose all options for her Morphogenic Mayhem special power, and her size and height become large 10.

SUPER STRENGTH

I can ultimately live with the Team-Up power as-is, since it still does work with just about anybody. Just didn't want things to get too centric around Ms. Marvel (Carol), since that's an incarnation of the character Kamala had never met. (And because Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel are two very distinct and separate eras of Carol's character.)

I'll be the Johnny here though and say that the power doesn't really fit our "Team-Up" power name structure anymore. Heroic Ally? Heroic Fangirl? Hard to convey the leading and the being led in a single power.

Pretty happy here, as her powers are wide enough to FEEL "standalone" even if they're pretty much the opposite. Happy to see how it goes (and curious what the public thinks)!

Definitely want to keep the name of the first power generic, seems like something we could easily reuse somewhere.

Legacy Hero does make some sense to me from the lens of "follows a mentor, attacks better; if there's no mentor, takes the leadership reigns".

Digging this design. She's a kid in need of some mentoring, also the leader of the Champions so this fits.

Re: The Book of Ms. Marvel (Kamala) - Design

Cool design. The Morphogenic Mayhem power being similar in mechanic but unique in options compared to MM III's Malleable Mayhem is great. Also like how Embiggen allows for a once per round use of all 3 each turn. The Team Up power is also cool and gonna be quite useful. I feel she may be a little higher than 160 with the powerset, but we'll see how that shakes out.

Also very happy to see another Crime Fighter for Luke Cage armies. The Fighters are a near auto-use in one game of each set of playtests I run, so more options there is great. I would absolutely love to see her come in at a point cost that's not currently an option such as 180 or 190.
