Special Event 2 - CHAOS IN THE CATACOMBS

SPECIAL EVENT 2: CHAOS IN THE CATACOMBS

SIGN UP HERE UNTIL 2/9

This event will be using the Chaos in the Catacombs official scenario. The only rule changes are as follows:
  • A figure cannot exit the catacombs if it is engaged.
  • In a 3-player game, the fourth startzone will be pre-filled with wandering monsters (2 Dumutef Guards and a Drow Chainfighter).

A voice connection is required to play in this event.

Sign-up and pairing for this event will be different from how we normally do things. For this event, you will be providing your specific availability on the sign up form and we will be setting match-ups based on your preferred availability.
Spoiler Alert!

The commitment for this event is minimal as you really are only signing up to play one game at one specific time (with an option for a second game for the winners). If you've ever been interested in trying Online Heroscape, but been afraid that the time commitment would be too much, this could be a great event for you. Note that this means it may be impossible to pair some players if they have too limited availability.

When signing up, you can express a preference (or a requirement) to play in a game with only official Hasbro figures. If there are enough players who select that option whose schedules line up, we will set up that game.

The selection of figures will be done by a pooled draft. The draft rules are as follows:
  • Each player brings a draft pool. Rules for your draft pool:
    • Minimum of 950 points; maximum of 1050 points.
    • Maximum of 32 spaces total for your draft pool.
    • No duplicate uniques.
    • No single card in your draft pool can account for more than 12 spaces.
  • Each game, your draft pool will be combined with the other players' draft pool to form one large draft pool that all players draft out of. All duplicate uniques will be eliminated: for example, if all four players include Major Q9, there will still only be one Q9 in the combined draft pool.
  • A random dice-off will determine the draft order. The draft will be a snake draft - so the pick order will be Player 1, 2, 3, 4, then 4, 3, 2, 1, then 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.
  • On each pick, you may draft either one card for your army or one card for the wandering monster draft pool. If the pick is for your army, place it in your startzone (unless you draft Airborne/Rechets).
  • Players continue drafting until they pass or until they have no options either for their army (350 point/5 space limit) or for their portion of the Wandering monster pool (150 points). Once a player passes their draft is over, and the other players may continue drafting until they have no options remaining.
  • You and your opponents are expected to draft and place figures via PM before your scheduled time to play in order to streamline the process (unless, of course, your game is scheduled too quickly for that to be possible). You should only sign up for this event if you think that you will generally be able to check your PM, make a choice, PM your pick to your opponents, and (if applicable) place them on the map at least once a day. (Of course, there may be days or weekends where you are unavailable, but you should be able to do this the majority of the time.)

The glyph pool for this event is every official Treasure glyph except the Revenant's Tome. The trap roll will also determine the glyph (each of 6-20 is one of the 15 glyphs), with re-rolls for a glyph that's already been revealed (1-5 does not trigger a trap on a re-roll).

This will be an elimination event. For many players, it will be a 1-and-done. The number of players who advance in each round will depend on the total numbers. There may be "wild card" players who advance because they had the highest score among players who did not win their game, in order to guarantee all games have either three or four players. A score of zero is never a winning score; if all four players fail to score then that game has no winner.

If the Greenscales or MacDirks were placed in the wandering monster pool, how would their King/Champion be chosen, or would they have none?

Who makes the scurry/scatter decisions for neutral figures?

The latter.

The same player who rolls their defense dice.

Yes. However, if you prefer to not have any VC used in your game, you may indicate that on the sign up sheet and you will be paired with like-minded individuals.

I wanted to give this thread a bump.

When we tested this event it was one of the most fun online games I have played. If you're at all into playing Online Heroscape, entering this event is a no-brainer. Very limited commitment and lots of fun.

Seriously, I had two different heroes turned to stone when everyone started taking turns with Sudema and ganging up on me. If that doesn't sound fun to you, then I don't know the meaning of the word. :D

I'm thinking about doing this. I have never played online so it will be a new experience for me. Which voice program do most of you use?
