When the Thinking Cap was plugged into the J.S.A.'s security system, Devoe downloaded himself into the world's computer network. He formed a hologram to communicate with the world and took over almost every mind in Keystone City. His goal was to use their brainpower as the world's largest supercomputer. The Thinker managed to take over the Flash, but Cyborg managed to rescue him and destroy the Thinker for good. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
NAME = THINKER
SECRET IDENTITY = CLIFFORD DEVOE SPECIES = ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = ANTAGONIST PERSONALITY = BRILLIANT SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 3 MOVE = 6 RANGE = 3 ATTACK = 4 DEFENSE = 6 POINTS = 225 OUTTHINK THE THINKER At the start of each round, after placing Order Markers and before rolling for initiative, if there is an Order Marker on this card, you may choose an opponent who must choose one of your Order Markers and look at it. If it is an "X" Order Marker, remove it and roll an unblockable attack die against Thinker. If it is a numbered Order Marker, that opponent must choose one of their figures and roll X unblockable attack dice against it, where X is the number of the revealed Order Marker. A.I. POSSESSION 5 After revealing an Order Marker on this card and taking a turn with Thinker, you may choose an adjacent figure. The player controlling that figure must immediately roll the 20-sided die, subtracting 4 from the roll if the chosen figure is an Android or Cyborg or if the chosen figure received one or more wounds from Thinker this round. If they roll 5 or lower, take temporary control of that figure and immediately take a turn with the chosen figure. INCORPOREAL Opponents' figures must be adjacent to Thinker to attack him with a normal or special attack. Thinker is never attacked when leaving an engagement. FLYING |

Cool! Also really like that mini, I want to pick it up now.

Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
Love the first power. Cool design.

Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
Is Incorporeal a reuse? I'd like the second line to just be Phantom Walk if not.
|
Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
It’s a reuse from somewhere. Fire I think?
|
Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
Yeah, Fire has it.
Cool design. I dig the powers. I think you'll want to pod up with some Beat Cops or something similar to protect this guy, because his power set is pretty nasty. The adjacency on the possession helps, but it triggers on a pretty low number, especially factoring in potential bonuses. So I think his projected cost is a bit low. Even if I put all of his powers at 3 on the calculator (which I think is low for what they can do) he comes in at 230 points. If the powers rate any higher, he could be 250 or 270. |
Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
I’m fine with a higher point cost or raising the d20 on the possession. Hard to theoryscape a design like this.
The first power should be interesting with the OM requirement, because this is a design you’d like to keep in your start zone. So dropping the X on him makes him predictable. But put a numbered OM on him and you’re wasting a turn on him (or making him vulnerable). You can get the best of both worlds with OM movers like Black Adam. |
Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
Interesting - definitely hard to get a bead on him, but I like "guessing OM" mechanics for more cerebral villains like these. Does he actually, like, physically exist? Is he punchable? Feels weird that a dude made out of code can be physically captured or fought at all, but I mean, it's comic books.

Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
He’s like half hologram, half a bunch of wires. He controls people by plugging his wires into them somehow. It’s total nonsense realistically.

Re: The Book of Thinker (breathing)
Went ahead and updated the d20 roll to 16+ and the points to 235. I think that’ll keep the focus on his first power.
