Were you using the Gibbering Mouther or the Ochre Jelly for the mid-size blob?

Edit: Hopefully the Ochre Jelly. The Gibbering Mouther is about $18.

Sorry I haven't been around on this one, been busy with getting kids ready for school starting day after labor day. The build looks good. I personally have never seen the film.

(wipes brow) Great! Especially since I just received the Ochre Jelly I ordered. :D

I've got all 3 figures - Ravenous Ooze, Ochre Jelly, and the Large Water Elemental. I'll try to get a side by side by side comparison photo up soon.

Jeepers, it's been awhile. Here's the long ago promised comparison pic:
http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/a...s.jpg~original
Haven't had time to do any painting - I see these all in a brownish-red color. Wish the Ochre Jelly in the middle was a bit bigger, but these will work. The 2 smaller figures are on standard size DnD bases. The water elemental is on a base pretty close to the size of the Scape large single space figures.

So my kids are really getting into Dr Who and I thought they'd really like this custom. I have a clarification question though on "Run". It says "you may move The Doctor and all Unique Heroes within 3 clear sight spaces of The Doctor up to 3 spaces each." Was that meant to include your opponents' Heroes? Ones you control and/or friendlies seems more thematic to the character and the power to me, but maybe this represents the Doctor and friends running away, and some misdirection on his part causing the opponents to run the other way?

Thanks for clearing that up.

(BTW The Blob looks really cool!)

I believe it was intended to only be Unique Heroes you control. Balantai was the lead designer for The Doctor, perhaps he'll chime in to verify. Please post your thoughts on The Doctor after you've had a chance to play him in a game or two.

The intent was to just have the Doctor able to move figures you control. We must've missed it.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

I like where The Blob design is going. IMO, the power texts need some work. Also, even though I pushed for using "The Blob" as the name for all 3, we may need to look at different names for the small and medium size figures to help with the wording.

Possibly, I thought since tecnically one replaces another it could count as one hero.

How about this.

Much like Scytale's Yellow Ooze, the Blob would make a great neutral opponent or scenario. Nice work.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

While this does remove the (sizes) from the names, I don't think it's the correct solution. We've gone from an awkward name construction to a solution that breaks the rules of the game. Unless I am misunderstanding the rules, you can't have more than one Unique card with the same name in your army. Here's my solution:

INDESTRUCTIBLE BLOB

Defense 8

NASCENT THREAT
The Indescribable Blob does not start the game on the battlefield. The Indescribable Blob can only be placed on the battlefield as a result of The Blob's Ravenous Growth special power.

RAVENOUS GROWTH
Whenever The Indescribable Blob destroys a figure, you may immediately remove this figure from the battlefield and replace it with The Indestructible Blob.

ENGULF 15
You may add 1 to The Indescribable Blob's range if the defending figure's base is no more than 3 levels higher or lower than The Indescribable Blob's base. If The Indescribable Blob wounds an adjacent small or medium figure with its normal attack, roll the 20-sided die. If you roll a 15 or higher, destroy the defending figure.

COLD WEAKNESS
The Indescribable Blob may not move onto a snow or ice space or adjacent to a Glacier. If The Indescribable Blob is attacked with a normal adjacent attack by a figure occupying a snow or ice space, roll two fewer defense dice.

There hasn't been any comments for awhile, so here's how the cards look with the wording from JC's post

Concern with the 0 points on the cards for scoring purposes.

How would it work when a player destroys The Indescribable Blob or The Indestructible Blob? Do they get all 150 points?

I think it would work that way. I think the idea behind the potential threat power is that it makes all three blobs effectively the same figure. So instead of paying 150 points for three figures you're actually 150 for 1 figure with three forms.

Of course to help clean up the confusion you could have all three cards at 150, and then change Potential Threat to

When you recruit The Blob into your army, you must may also recruit The Indescribable Blob and The Indestructible Blob without paying their point costs.

Not sure if that helps but its an idea.

Also my first post after a long hiatus.

I have never played for score, but yes I would putit at 150 no matter which you killed, either that or we could go with the point values Taeblewalker suggested and go 30/50/70. I am good either way.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Either way scoring would be wonky. I'm leaning toward making it 30/50/70.

Who is on deck next?

You have some really great designs. Eric and Thundarr are very nice and take me back to my youth.

Of the previous members that are currently active in this thread, it would be McHotcakes.

JC McMinis
Taeblewalker
mac122
McHotcakes

If any of you others that have posted in here recently would like to get into the rotation, I think it could be arranged. Perhaps some additional designers would help breathe new life into this thread.

Isn't it your turn Mac? TableWalker submitted the Blob didn't he?

Taeblewalker and I ended up switching spots this last time through - don't remember why. I had Neo from the Matrix before The Blob.

Ok then. If everyone is okay with the blob I'll have a nomination up by either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Before you post, let me get the revised cards posted for :up:s. That way, we can focus on your design. I should be able to get the revisions done later today.

The Indestructible version is Large 4? 4 doesn't sound very large.

Good call. Here's a comparison photo of the 3 figures.

It's more like Large 6.

Edited the picture for Indescribable Blob - changed the red carpet to blue for better contrast.

Changed the image for the Indestructible Blob. I liked the movie poster idea, but it just didn't look right on the card. This image provides a better idea of the scale.

The cards look great. I like the change from the movie poster on The Indestructible Blob.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Nice work on this one. If I am reading the cards correctly the best strategy is to destroy The Blob in its first or second form so it never returns.
It may be worth destroying two of your own figures to get The Return activated. Perhaps zombies or Dividers or Marro Warriors who could return on their own.

Those were both my designs! I'm glad you've enjoyed them.
