Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
Were you using the Gibbering Mouther or the Ochre Jelly for the mid-size blob?
Edit: Hopefully the Ochre Jelly. The Gibbering Mouther is about $18. |
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
Sorry I haven't been around on this one, been busy with getting kids ready for school starting day after labor day. The build looks good. I personally have never seen the film.

I've got all 3 figures - Ravenous Ooze, Ochre Jelly, and the Large Water Elemental. I'll try to get a side by side by side comparison photo up soon. |
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
Jeepers, it's been awhile. Here's the long ago promised comparison pic:
http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/a...s.jpg~original Haven't had time to do any painting - I see these all in a brownish-red color. Wish the Ochre Jelly in the middle was a bit bigger, but these will work. The 2 smaller figures are on standard size DnD bases. The water elemental is on a base pretty close to the size of the Scape large single space figures. |
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
I'm happy with them.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
So where are we at with this guy...or blob?

So my kids are really getting into Dr Who and I thought they'd really like this custom. I have a clarification question though on "Run". It says "you may move The Doctor and all Unique Heroes within 3 clear sight spaces of The Doctor up to 3 spaces each." Was that meant to include your opponents' Heroes? Ones you control and/or friendlies seems more thematic to the character and the power to me, but maybe this represents the Doctor and friends running away, and some misdirection on his part causing the opponents to run the other way? Thanks for clearing that up. (BTW The Blob looks really cool!) |

The intent was to just have the Doctor able to move figures you control. We must've missed it.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
I like where The Blob design is going. IMO, the power texts need some work. Also, even though I pushed for using "The Blob" as the name for all 3, we may need to look at different names for the small and medium size figures to help with the wording.

Ok would like to get this going again. Mac mentioned in the display thread about not liking having the size of The Blob in their name, what if we do it this wsy.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
A neat approach -- but wouldn't that mean having multiple unique heroes with the same name in your army?
|
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
Possibly, I thought since tecnically one replaces another it could count as one hero.
How about this. Potential Threat When you recruit The Blob into your army you must also recruit the medium and large sized The Blob into your army. All 3 sizes of The Blob count as one hero. |

Scary. Any idea on points?
Much like Scytale's Yellow Ooze, the Blob would make a great neutral opponent or scenario. Nice work. |
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
While this does remove the (sizes) from the names, I don't think it's the correct solution. We've gone from an awkward name construction to a solution that breaks the rules of the game. Unless I am misunderstanding the rules, you can't have more than one Unique card with the same name in your army. Here's my solution:

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
Concern with the 0 points on the cards for scoring purposes.
How would it work when a player destroys The Indescribable Blob or The Indestructible Blob? Do they get all 150 points? |
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Of course to help clean up the confusion you could have all three cards at 150, and then change Potential Threat to When you recruit The Blob into your army, you must may also recruit The Indescribable Blob and The Indestructible Blob without paying their point costs. Not sure if that helps but its an idea. Also my first post after a long hiatus. |
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
I have never played for score, but yes I would putit at 150 no matter which you killed, either that or we could go with the point values Taeblewalker suggested and go 30/50/70. I am good either way.
|
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
Either way scoring would be wonky. I'm leaning toward making it 30/50/70.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
The cards look great. I like the change from the movie poster on The Indestructible Blob.
|
Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread
Nice work on this one. If I am reading the cards correctly the best strategy is to destroy The Blob in its first or second form so it never returns.
It may be worth destroying two of your own figures to get The Return activated. Perhaps zombies or Dividers or Marro Warriors who could return on their own. |
