Figure picture and where to buy:

Promo Text: Nobody wants to look too close at the magic practiced by the orcs of Grut: underlings animated by bloody magic coursing through their veins, leaving a trail of blood in their wake. Most of it their own.

Character Bio:
Quote:

All worlds are connected by magic. It flows in different ways, feels different but for those with the sixth sense, thaumaturgy, the magic of each world has a distinct taste.

Feylund's wispy, showy magic. Valhalla's strong, overpowering, runic magic. Actorus' chaotic magic.

Grut's magic is in its blood. A hateful, violent magic. Gore and ichor. Spilling the life of your enemy or even your ally. Drawing directly from that which animates them. For the orcs of Grut, this is magic. It serves their brutal and violent purposes, and no one is more respected and feared than this shaman. He is the one who inducts the chieftains. He is the one who oversees war. He is the one who boils the blood of his fellow orcs with a flick of his wrist, driving them into an insane frenzy.

He can hear them call his name now and he can taste the blood soon to be spilled.

"Kuthnak!"

SPECIAL POWERS
  • INCANTATION OF BOILING BLOOD
Before moving normally with a Common Orc Squad you control, you may choose a figure in that Squad within 4 clear sight spaces of Kuthnak. For the rest of the turn, the chosen figure adds 3 to its Move and 1 to its Attack, and may attack any or all figures adjacent to it this turn with its normal attack. Roll each attack separately. After that turn, destroy the chosen figure.

-Rulings and Clarifications-
  • Q: If Incantation of Boiling Blood is used on a Common Orc Squad figure, but Kuthnak dies during that figure's turn (for example, by the Frost Giant's Dying Swipe), does the Squad figure continue to be affected by Incantation?
A: Yes. Incantation lasts "the rest of the turn." The figure must also be destroyed at the end of that turn, even if Kuthnak is killed.

-Combinations and Synergies-

The C3V Rules Team would like to add the following R&C:
Quote:

Q: If Incantation of Boiling Blood is used on a Common Orc Squad figure, but Kuthnak dies during that figure's turn (for example, by the Frost Giant's Dying Swipe), does the Squad figure continue to be affected by Incantation?
A: Yes. Incantation lasts "the rest of the turn." The figure must also be destroyed at the end of that turn, even if Kuthnak is killed.

Really love not only the effect, but also the dynamic of another orc champion that is not inherently a front liner; feels like he adds a lot of options for blade gruts

Welcome @darel2020 . Glad you are enjoying the C3V release to add life to your game. Arrow Gruts are tricky, and ther are best if you have multiple squads and multiple Swog Riders with them. It may be over you head, but check out Unit Strategy Review: How to use Arrow Gruts. Kuthnak can be a good unit to add with Arrow Gruts, but I think he does a little better with the Blade Gruts.

Re: The Book of Kuthnak

I really like how Kuthnak works better with the Death Chasers and Blade Gruts compared to the Heavy Gruts. The Blade Gruts are dirt cheap in comparison to the Heavies, and so having to destroy a Blade at the end of the turn is much less of a sacrifice comparatively. 9 move and disengage, even if it's only for a single turn, is also ridiculous. As for the Death Chasers, Kuthnak gives them an incredibly powerful AOE that helps to make up for the fact that they're only a 3 man squad, and since they only have 2 defence, you don't really care if one dies at the end of the turn anyway. Heavies don't get quite as much out of Kuthnak as the other 2 orc squads do, and I find it really neat how this figure buffs the slightly weaker armies that he can be featured in more than he buffs the more-powerful-as-a-base Heavy Grut builds.
