The Book of KGBeast C3G DC WAVE 33 BATMAN FOREVER http://heroscapers.com/c3g/released/...east_comic.png Comic PDF http://heroscapers.com/c3g/released/...Beast_mini.png Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Batman set. Its model number and name are #020 / KGBeast. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Anatoli Knyazev was trained by a top secret KGB program. Enhancing his strength and senses with cybernetics, they created the perfect assassin. "The Beast" mastered all weapons he could get his hands on, and gained a reputation for relentlessly pursuing any targets without fail. When he was tasked with killing key people in Gotham City, Commissioner Gordon and Batman vowed to help stop the killing machine. Unfortunately KGBeast proved too clever, effectively killing nearly all of his targets before the detectives could figure out how to stop him. His tenacity reaches an extreme when Batman hooks KGBeast's hand with a cable, and Knyazev doesn't hesitate to sever his own hand with an axe to escape capture and continue his mission. The next day he outfits his injured arm with a gun in place of his hand, making himself that much more deadly. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of KGBeast ~ Vote for Initial
NAME = KGBEAST
SECRET IDENTITY = ANATOLI KNYAZEV SPECIES = HUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = ASSASSIN PERSONALITY = RELENTLESS SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 5 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 6 ATTACK = 4 DEFENSE = 5 POINTS = 210 NIGHTS OF THE BEAST Start the game with 3 numbered white Target Markers. Choose up to 3 different enemy Unique Heroes and one at a time place the numerically lowest Target Marker on each chosen Hero's card. Before attacking a non-adjacent figure with a Target Marker on its card, one at a time, roll an unblockable attack die against any common figures adjacent to the defending figure. When KGBeast attacks a figure with a Target Marker on its card, if that Target Marker is the numerically lowest on an Army Card in play, the defending figure rolls X fewer defense dice, where X is equal to the number on that Target Marker. UNSTOPPABLE FOCUS Any time KGBeast receives a wound from a leaving engagement attack, the figure making the leaving engagement attack receives one automatic wound. CYBERNETIC ENHANCEMENTS When KGBeast attacks an adjacent figure, add 1 to his attack value. When KGBeast attacks a non-adjacent figure, that figure may not receive any extra defense dice from height advantage, destructible objects, Shadow Tiles, or being adjacent to Jungle Pieces. |

Re: The Book of KGBeast ~ Design Phase
I don't remember what the controversy was about him but I like him in general. REALLY like the numbered markers mechanic. It's a lot of hardware, but it's worth it.
Only concerns are that he's dishing out a lot of auto-wounds and unlockables, and the fact he's pretty easily going to get up to 8 Attack. That feels like a really high ceiling, even for a cyborg assassin. I'd almost say defense reduction is more thematic than attack increase? |

Definitely can change the attack boost to defense reduction. Or something else. |

Don't know this character but this design looks fun as heck!

Re: The Book of KGBeast ~ Design Phase
Looks like an effective assassin, with the ability to take out adj. 5th Street Beat Cops before attacking the target. Guessing the markers are going to be numbered 1/2/3. So in end game, the last target is facing a +3 attack. Agreed he won't make it to end game on a regular basis, but when he does a base att. of 7 is pretty strong. I'd maybe cut the base att. down to 3, such that the +3 gets you an att. of 6.

Re: The Book of KGBeast ~ Design Phase
My only worry would be that the optimal strategy would just be to kill off 1 and 2 with other units, then send out KGBeast to finish off 3.

Re: The Book of KGBeast ~ Design Phase
My real concern isn't the power level so much as the theme of him rolling 7+ dice. That's pretty beyond any normal weaponry, even cyborg weapons. Which is why defensive subtraction makes sense to me, more about being a precise assassin than a huge roided out monster. (Unless he is a huge roided out monster, I can't really say for sure.)

That is a good strategy. |
Re: The Book of KGBeast ~ Design Phase
What if the Target Markers just didn't have any numbers on them? He starts the game with 3 targets and can go after them in any order he wants. Flat bonus for attacking his target of +1 att., or -1 def., or both? Kind of like both personally, would make him play differently than other units who do one or the other. Also means he's good at assassinating Nightwing types who won't like losing the def. die, as well as high defense types that he'll need the extra attack dice on.
