Blah, I'm not familiar enough yet with AotP nomenclature to know how to interpret the "Scent of Blood" power.

Does "+1 hit" mean that I add an automatic "crossed weapon symbol" to whatever I roll for the attack (as if it were an offensive version of the Warforged Resolve)? Or does it mean that an additional damage is inflicted on top of whatever damage may or may not have been inflicted by comparing the attacker's and defender's rolls?

(The difference being that the former could still be blocked if the defender rolled enough shields, whereas the latter could not.)

In Heroscape terms, it is an auto-skull, so it can be defended against.
So 4 dice + 1 automatic hit then roll defense.
