Character Bio - "I told Gamora how when I was a kid I used to pretend David Hasselhoff was my dad. He's a singer and actor from earth, really famous guy. Yondu didn't have a talking car, but he did have a flying arrow. He didn't have a beautiful voice of an angel, but he did have the whistle of one. Both Yondu and David Hasselhoff went on kick-ass adventures and hooked up with hot women, and fought robots. I guess David Hasselhoff did kinda end up being my dad after all, only it was you, Yondu. I had a pretty cool dad. What I'm trying to say here is... sometimes, that thing you're searching for your whole life is right there by your side all along, and you don't even know it."
―Peter Quill's eulogy for Yondu's funeral

Re: The Book of Yondu - Breathing

NAME = YONDU (MCU)
SECRET IDENTITY = YONDU UDONTA

SPECIES = CENTAURIAN
UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO
CLASS = PIRATE
PERSONALITY = GRUFF

SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 5

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 6
ATTACK = 4
DEFENSE = 4

POINTS = 190

PIRATE CODE
At the start of the game, you may choose a Unique Hero you control without the Super Strength special power. For the remainder of the game, that figure has the class of Pirate instead of what is listed on its card. If Yondu attacks and fails to inflict a wound during his turn, you must move an unrevealed Order Marker from this card to the chosen figure's Army Card, as long as it is under your control. After revealing an Order Marker on this card and taking a turn with Yondu, if he inflicted one or more wounds this turn, you may take an immediate turn with a Unique Pirate Hero or Common Pirate Squad you control, and you may not take any additional turns.

YAKA ARROW CONTROL
Yondu may attack non-adjacent figures while engaged and never takes falling damage.

YAKA ARROW FRENZY
Once per round, instead of attacking with Yondu, you may choose a figure within 4 spaces and roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 10 or higher, inflict a wound on the chosen figure. You may then choose a figure within 4 spaces of the space occupied by that figure that has not been chosen this round and roll again. You may continue to roll for Yaka Arrow Frenzy until you do not inflict a wound.

Real quick, I know this is a voting thread, but I felt this was relevant. There are 3 versions of Yondu: the original, a native to Centauri IV, whose race is primitive but has the extraordinary ability to whistle at a range of 4 octaves, which allows them to manipulate arrows made of Yaka, a sound-sensitive element native to their planet, when shot from a traditional bow; his great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather of the original, who has no such power or arrow; and the MCU version, who doesn't use a traditional bow and arrow but can manipulate his "yaka arrow" by whistling.

If I'm not mistaken you are gong for version 3 here, correct?

Yes version 3 MCU. I would agree with what you are others have said on Discord about dropping range to 1 and attack to 3. I'll wait out the Breathing phase before I make that change.

Re: The Book of Yondu - Breathing

I saw on Discord talk of dropping him to range 1, attack 3 (though 4 should be OK at range 1?). If you make either/both of those changes to really sell out on the arrow thing, I'd really consider going 9+ on the arrow.

Yeah seems like a good plan.

For Manchester Black I hesitated to make his continuous auto-wound roll too low and I think he ended up being too lackluster of a design to draft.

Re: The Book of Yondu - Breathing

Attempting to clean up the Yaka wording just a tad:

ENHANCED YAKA ARROW
Once per round, after moving and instead of attacking with Yondu, you may choose an opponent's figure within 4 spaces and roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 11 or higher, the chosen figure receives one wound and you may choose another figure within 4 spaces of the affected figure. You may continue to choose figures for Enhanced Yaka Arrow in this manner until you fail to roll 11 or higher. You may not choose the same figure more than once on the same turn.

I'd agree on 9+, though 10+ might also be a sweet spot. (I'm not sure we have a single power that starts as 8+ come to think of it :ponder:)

Quentin Quire, Titanium Man, Vibe, Abomination, Anti-Monitor, Baron von Strucker, Brother Voodoo, Gorgon (Tomi), Gypsy, Karnak, M.O.D.O.K., Mad Thinker, Phobos, Puppet Master, and about three unreleased ones. :-P

Re: The Book of Yondu - Breathing

Right, I think 9 or 10 is probably right. In the MCU, it's one of the most powerful weapons outside of the infinity stones. Mjolnir and Stormbreaker are right there too. But you can argue the Arrow is strongest, even if it shouldn't be.

It's the strongest against mook-types at least.
