Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Should read "two fewer defense dice" since they are countable objects. Other than that, not knowing the character, I'd say he's very mechanically sound.

Great 1st draft Taeblewalker. Now that I think back didn't Thunders use his Sunsword to deflect spells and other ranged attacks. How about we add this.

Sunsword Deflection
When Thundarr is attacked by a normal attack from a non-adjacent figure, one shield will block all damage.

I don't know anything about Thundarr, but the draft looks good.

Right now, he looks around 110-130.

You should combine both powers into one since both are related to the SA.

SUN SWORD SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1. Attack 5.
Thundarr may not use Sun Sword Special Attack against Human figures. Soulborgs and destructible objects roll two fewer defense dice against Sun Sword Special Attack.

I like the combo, Sir G. I will do more cartoon research to see how much deflection went on.

It mentions the deflection in the wikipedia article.

"The Sunsword's energy blade can deflect other energy attacks as well as magical ones, can cut through nearly anything, and can disrupt magical spells and effects."

This suggests he can deflect special attacks, not normal ones.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

or maybe both...if he can deflect say a bullet from say Q10's Machine Pistol Special Attack why wouldn't he be able to deflect one of Syvarris' arrows?

This is true...however maybe we can do this.

SUNSWORD DEFLECTION
When Thundarr is attacked by a figure that is not adjacent, one shield will block all damage. Sunsword Deflection does not work on attacks which affect multiple figures.

This way he cannot deflect say Mimrings fire line or the AE grenades.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

That's actually a pretty good call, JC!

Edit: Just to be clear, that will exempt Acid Splash and Thunder Ram Special Attacks as well. Which is cool with me. It also exempts Tesubo and Wild Swing, which again is very good.

To make sure the rules lawyers don't require that the attack actually affects multiple figures in order to bypass this power.
