Emma was born in the city of Heap; that vast, lurking monstrosity that encircles the fortress-home of the Vanguards. She was born among the lowliest of Heap’s citizenry, known as the Grounders. At the age of twelve she began to demonstrate a knack for small magics, and as she grew, so too did her skill. At seventeen Emma set out on her own to find her fortune. The wilds are an inhospitable place for a lone traveler, but Grounders are born survivors. She never balked when necessity required her to steal to eat, or lie to avoid imprisonment. Indeed, as Emma found her way through a violent world terrorized by the undead, her magical powers began to alter themselves, mimicing Emma’s scavenger nature. Now she has followed a legend that speaks of a Summoning Stone buried beneath the ruins of Kravlas. A stone would be the ultimate prize for a castaway Grounder, and could allow Emma to lead her people to greatness.

Wow! Is this a preview revealed within a preview?

Who are these Grounders mentioned in Emma's bio? Could this be a new faction we've yet to see?

If so, too cool...

Rym, the grounders were the poor and oppressed living on the ground level of Heap. They were mentioned on the plaid hat games summoner wars story section. I doubt they will be a faction.

http://www.summonerwars.com/DorganPreview.jpg

Dorgan is a crafty and resourceful adventurer, which is good since he fails to get along with others. Dorgan hates humans - a bunch of self-important long shanks, the lot of them. Elves are worse! Stupid Elves, always acting aloof like they know things. If Dorgan could punch an Elf every time one gave a smug smile, there wouldn’t be an Elf alive that had all its teeth. And don’t even start about Goblins. Filthy little treacherous worms. Dorgan half-suspects Goblins are the spawn of Humans and slugs. Then of course there are all the others: the Vekkids (repulsive!), the Vargath (food!), and all the other grotesques Itharia has offered up. As far as Dorgan is concerned the only race fit to breathe is the Dwarves – it’s too bad they kicked him out. Maybe if he can get his hands on that Summoning Stone they’ll let him come back. No, probably not after all the things he said.

http://www.summonerwars.com/FourthVesselPreview.jpg

He comes from the bloody plains of North Meeric, where barbaric tribes of demon worshippers burn and despoil what traces of civilization they can find. They have no name for themselves, but others call them the Filth. At night their camps echo with the screams of prisoners and the gibbering of madmen. Bodies bend and snap as they are wracked by mutation – dark payment earned with dark rituals. He is the Fourth Vessel – a harbinger of the degradation of all life. He is a receptacle for evil. He rarely speaks for he has no need. Why speak to mortals when you have conversed with the living face of damnation? As the Fourth Vessel he is a collector of things, and now he has set his eyes on the greatest of all prizes. The plains of North Meeric are running low on souls, but a Summoning Stone would fix that.

I was beginning to worry that we weren't getting a preview this week. Awesome as always.

Is you select the ability Demonic Visage, is it required to be used at all time, or can you opted to allow a friendly hero to move with you without having to roll for it?

Once you have it, it is always on.

Paelleall is a Phoenix Elf ranger. The rangers are charged with protecting the volcanic home of their people, a task with numerous facets. Some rangers act as scouts and spy on enemy formations. Others act as assassins, killing prominent leaders of opposing factions. Paelleall was charged with finding another Summoning Stone for the royal family. But how does one find the rarest of all known artifacts? For nigh on two decades she roamed Itharia, searching for clues. In Shabaeth she killed a man who claimed to possess a stone, only to discover it was a fake. At the port of Iah she bribed a ship’s captain to take her to a holy island, only to discover she had been deceived, and no such island existed. But now she has heard rumors from numerous sources of a terrible power lurking within Kravlas. At last she may have found what twenty years have denied her – at last she may have a reason to return home.
