Great stuff. Just time for a quick glance through. I can take a more thorough look at them later if you like.

On Eric's card, the special power title needs a '?' to match the power text of What Am I Doing.

Does My Name Is Inigo Montoya really need the number? Who else is ever going to have this power with a different roll? The number just really breaks up the quote.

Be consistent with order Marker. Either capitalize them all or lowercase them all.

When modifying attack or defense, it's probably a good idea to "add 1 die to <figure's> normal attack and defense."

Thanks SirG!

As far as the "?" I think it should be removed from the text. I believe it would be more official and look less awkward in the body of the text without it.

I agree we don't need the "11" on Inigo's card. Unless, Inigo's Mirror Universe doppelganger is sent here by some strange transporter malfunction...oh, sorry, wrong project...

I'll check through the cards for cOnsistencY on CApitaliZation.

Edit: went through the cards and fixed several wording/capitalization issues and reposted. The cards are posted under the same file name, so you may need to clear your browser cache to see the updates. I'm sure I didn't catch everything, so if anyone finds some more edits, please post with the specific example.

@Lamaclown: if you get a chance, I'd like to see what you come up with for a logo. I think it would be cool to have a watermark that could go behind the text.

Love the cards mac, heres the one I made for Simon, I had originally thought of doing a repaint of a drow chainfighter, but then we found the Malifaux mini. I just never changed the hitzone on the card.

Agent J
NEURALYZER 14
". . . Affected figures do not take any leaving engagement attacks . . . "

NOISY CRICKET SPECIAL ATTACK
". . . If you roll a skull, Agent J receives one wound."

<consistency and conservation of words>

Agent Smith
UNPLUGGED
You may not place Order Markers on this card unless Agent Smith figures are the only figures you control. Before revealing a numbered Order Marker on any other card you control, you may roll the 20-sided die, adding 1 to your roll for each Agent Smith figure you control. If you roll an 18 or higher, you may first take a turn with Agent Smith.

<As it was written before, if you only had Agent Smith left, before you revealed a numbered OM on this card, you'd have to roll to see if you could take a turn with Agent Smith. If that was the intent (taking up to 8 figure turns), then I apologize.

Also the modifier to the roll usually comes before the consequence.>

ME TOO! <should be almost identical to Zombies>
If an Agent Smith figure you control destroys an opponent's small or medium figure, replace that figure immediately, if possible, with one of your previously destroyed Agent Smith figures. Newly placed Agent Smith figures cannot attack this turn.

<that last line is up to your design--if you want that newly placed figure to be able to attack, omit the last line>

MASTERING THE MATRIX
". . . Whenever an Agent Smith figure rolls defense dice and is not destroyed, you may move that Agent Smith figure up to 4 spaces. When an Agent Smith figure moves with . . . "

<conservation of words -- since they are squad figures, one wound = destroyed.>

<"figure" was inserted everywhere to differentiate between the squad called 'Agent Smith' and each member of the squad>

Ash Williams
THE CHOSEN ONE
<need to clarify this -- when does the round start? Do you want to know what's going to happen to his attack and defense before or after OMs are placed? before or after initiative is rolled?>

BOOMSTICK SPECIAL ATTACK <from DW 9000>
" . . . Ash Williams only needs a clear sight shot at the chosen figure. . . ."

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
<"special power" is usually lowercase>

<Just to be clear, if Buffy has height advantage on an adjacent non-Human figure with the Drain Life special power, she's rolling 7 attack dice, right?
3(base) + 2(non-Human) + 1(Drain Life) +1(height)>

SLAYER'S TRAINING
" . . . the effects of enemy figures' special powers. When rolling defense dice against a normal attack for a non-adjacent attacking figure, . . . attack from an adjacent attacking figure . . ."

<plural possessive and eliminate redundancy>

Eric the Cavalier
WHAT AM I DOING
"If a friendly figure within 3 clear sight spaces of Eric is targeted for a normal attack by a non-adjacent figure, . . . "

Indiana Jones
Treasure Hunter
" . . . you may add 2 your die roll."

Whip Swing 3 <a la Spider-Man?>
". . . When counting spaces for Indiana Jones' Whip Swing movement, ignore elevations. Indiana Jones may swing over water without stopping, swing over figures without becoming engaged, and swing over obstacles such as ruins. Indiana Jones may not Whip Swing more than 6 levels up or down in a single Whip Swing. When using Whip Swing, Indiana Jones does will not take any leaving engagement attacks."

Inigo Montoya
MY NAME IS INIGO MONTOYA
"When Inigo Montoya receives . . .by an attack from an adjacent Unique Hero . . . "

YOU KILLED MY FATHER
" . . . you may roll two 2 additional dice."

PREPARE TO DIE
" . . . from an adjacent attacking figure, . . . all excess shields count as unblockable wounds hits on the attacking figure.

Predator
PREDATOR'S STEALTH
" . . .When this Predator rolls defense dice against an attack from a non-adjacent figure . . . This Predator may not use Predator's Stealth (or 'this special power') while on a water space.

WORTHY PREY
<capitalize Army Card>

SELF-DESTRUCT
" . . . the 20-sided die.

Rabbit of Caerbannog
WHAT, BEHIND THE RABBIT
". . . it may not be attacked unless the attacking figure began it's its turn adjacent to it the Rabbit of Caerbannog."

<overused 'it'>

POINTY TEETH SPECIAL ATTACK
"Choose . . . to attack. Place the Rabbit of Caerbannog on any empty space adjacent to the chosen figure and roll 4 attack dice. When the . . . When moving using Pointy Teeth Special Attack, the Rabbit of Caerbannog never takes any leaving engagement attacks."

Samuel Sullivan
MASTER MANIPULATOR
"After . . .taking a turn with Samuel Sullivan, you may take a turn with any Unique Hero . . . "

TERRAKINESIS SPECIAL ATTACK
". . . for each friendly Unique Hero adjacent . . . Roll attack dice once . . . Figures moved by Terrakinesis Special Attack will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

Simon Belmont
SENSE UNDEAD
" . . . When Simon Belmont moves with Sense Undead, he will take any leaving engagement attacks."

The Doctor
BRILLIANT SPECIAL ATTACK
"Defending figures may not use any special powers or roll defense dice against The Doctor's Brilliant Special Attack."

RUN
" . . .Figures moved by Run will not take any leaving engagement attacks and may not end their movement engaged."

Hope these help.

@Sir G: What, you think I don't have a life outside of Herosca...nevermind :D
Seriously, thanks. I'll work on those edits.

@JC: There it is. I knew I had seen that, but my search-fu is weak.

@ the Group: Balantai was linking the finished cards in the OP (well, finished until SirG came along ;)). In Balantai's absence, do we want a Display thread for our cards?

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Heres another idea for an animal for Dr. D

Elephant
Aquilla

Pacyderm
Uncommon Hero
Animal
Wild
Large 8

Life 6
Move 6
Range 1
Attack 5
Defense 3

Tough
When rolling defense dice, elepghant adds one automatic shield to whatever is rolled.

Trample
Before moving Elephant, you may choose to add 3 to it's movement. If you choose to do this, you may move elephant through any space occupied by an opponents small or medium figure. If that figure is a squad figure, destroy that figure. If the figure is a hero roll the 20 sided die, if you roll a 16 or higher destroy that hero. Elephant may not attack on a turn where it used trample.

Points 100

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Yes, moving the finished creations to a separate thread would be a great idea. Gives the finished products a chance to be presented to the masses.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Working from what TW posted, here are the abilities with reference to "Animal". LC, does this fit your vision for Doolittle?

Quote:

WALK WITH THE ANIMALS
After taking a turn with Dr. Doolittle, you may move up to two Animal figures you control up to 4 spaces each.

TALK WITH THE ANIMALS
Instead of taking a turn with Dr. Dolittle, you may take a turn with any 1 Animal Hero you control.

THE GOOD DOCTOR
If Dr. Doolittle ends his turn adjacent to a Unique Animal Hero you control, you may remove up to two wound markers from that Hero's army card.
Should Talk With The Animals give the option of a squad too?

Taeblewalker August 21st, 2011 10:53 PM

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

I would give the option of crappy bonding to animal squads as well.

NecroBlade August 21st, 2011 11:00 PM

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Trample on the Elephant REALLY needs to be toned down. 9 move with as many "Chomps" as you want on an Uncommon Hero for 20 points less than Grimnak's single Chomp?!
